How Much Longer before Rafael Benitez Goes?

I've been a Liverppol fan since the tender age of 7, supporting my club through the glory years and in more recent times the not so glory years. But I along with many others are wondering what will it take for manager Rafael Benitez to get the push.
As a team we are lacking in every quarter, thanks to the constant buying and selling of players without giving them the chance to perform, as well as the rotation policy which means there is no team consistency and don't mention the strange choice of zonal marking. It shows in that we are out of everything on a domestic front and performed miserably in the champions league. So surely it must be time for the Liverpool owners, another sore point for all us Liverpool fans, to make that decision and give Benitez the sack or at least he should do the right thing and put his hands up and admit to making a pigs ear of things and resign.
So who else thinks it's about time for a change in manager at Anfield?

All through this sack Benitez thing from the fans, I have not heard one name who they would like to replace him as Liverpool manager. Any Liverpool fans here, who would you like to see replace him??

Well there have been 2 names banded about in the press that of Gus Hiddink and Roy Hodgson, plus of course you can't discount the special one. Personally I would like to see someone like Hodgson who can work with a team, a limited budget and build on what he has, bringing players on from the accademy rather than trying to buy ready made stars in.

I've heard those names too but I have yet to hear many Liverpool fans saying who they think should replace Rafa. At least that would justify their stance on the bad form under Rafa as they would be looking forward to a new manager.

Liverpool have given their backing to Rafa but you have to feel that they must be contemplating firing the Spaniard. Although I don't blame him solely for the team's poor performance, he has to take the flack and he is just not showing any signs that Liverpool can and will get back up to where they should be with the team they have which is fighting for the Premiership.

Very true the team have to take some responsibility, but because of Benitez's strange tactics of not bringing on those support players, blooding them properly into the team to cover when the main stars can't play he has made a rod for his own back and the few stars the team has have to take the flack.
Many thanks for your response.

I think Benitez not playing Ryan Babel and Alberto Aquilani much has badly hampered the team as they are two very good attacking players. With Gerrard and Torres they also need a couple of other talented attacking minded players.

I think that Rafa Benitez is skating on VERY thin ice at the moment, and his position with Liverpool is under serious threat. Liverpool have been under his command for a long time now, so I wouldn't be surprised when they cut him loose within the near future.

I hope it is within the near future rather than in the summer when Liverpool could end up mid table or even worse having turned it round by some miracle not of Benitez's doing and he takes the praise for it and stays on.

Just get Jose Mourinho and you will see Liverpool back to the top
it is nothing wrong with the team , hiring Rafa is the biggest mistake and start of Liverpool downfall
Let the Special One show the light for you Liverpool ....as we (MU) miss you at the top ...
Just look at our Sir Alex , no matter how many great players left us or out due to injury , we never out of top three ...that is what real manager do and not a guy who dress up and talk like a manager but never was one in reality

I hate to say but Man U have got it right when it comes to the team, shame about all the financial hassles going on. You look at their team and when any player is out for some reason there is a reliable player to fill in, who has been slowly blooded into the team so that it can still play as unit. Unfortunately with Benitez's constant quest for buying players yet selling ones with out giving them the chance we never have a proper squad, just a handful of star players which he favours.

I agree if Liverpool need a fresh blood at the manager position. Rafa is good, I must admit it. But Liverpool's performance at the recent years is not good enough I think. Rafa is not Fergie, who has been like a god in Manutd. So I think it's quite rational to replace Rafa in the first place.
I prefer coach that can prioritize English youth player, so Liverpool can produce many good player in the next years such as Owen and Gerrard.

This is exactly one of my points, Liverpool need a manager who instead of trying to buy in stars can bring through younger players to build up the squad who have that passion for Liverpool and not there just for the big paycheck.

Of course when the team does not play well and does not have any achivments then the coach is guilty and he must go. But dont forget Rafael Benitez won your last champions league. You must be grateful and respectful

Sadly that was nearly 5 years ago and that is a long time for Liverpool. But the thing is many of us are ever grateful for what he achieved on that magnificent night but it is what he has done since which causes us all distress and calling for him to be sacked. You just have to watch those clubs who were once scared of playing Liverpool are now fearless because they know we are on the ropes.
