Have you ever had mice in your house?

Right now I know we have a few. It sucks having mice and it seems very hard to get rid of them, haha. We've set up mice traps and have two cats, but they don't seem to be getting rid of. Today I opened my computer up, because late at night I would hear noises coming from the inside of it, and what I found was that there are like 30-40 mice turds in my computer. There wasn't any mice, but I think that some of them must crawl into the computer during the night time when it's off to live in there! It was really annoying to have to clean the turds out, but at least they didn't break anything, haha. Hopefully we get rid of these mice soon. Has anyone else here ever had a problem with mice in their house?

I just got rid of a little lady mouse who set up housekeeping under the top of my stove in the insulation. She chewed a perfectly round hole and stuffed it with pages from my cookbooks. Either she liked the warmth or she was trying to get me to stop cooking - not sure which. I also had RATS, big eight-inch long rats (not counting tail length) set up in my Florida kitchen. They managed to destroy every piece of plastic on our kitchen appliances and chew halfway through the electric cord on our stove. They also built a couple of massive nests under the cabinets on either side of the kitchen. It took forever to catch them and the cost of repairs came to over $10,000! We had to remove all the cabinets to get the filth and nests out. Since the original cabinets were pressed wood, all the urine from the beasts, plus a water hose from the dishwasher swelled and destroyed the cabinets. One I caught in a trap literally by a nose length. He stuck his head out and the trap caught him about a quarter of an inch up his nose. The other one got one of his back feet caught on a sticky trap and scooted up under a center pedestal table. That was interesting getting him out as ticked off rats are NOT nice people!

Hi, powerbrokenape. Yes, I have had to deal with mice in my home last year. It was in a trailer that we used to stay in. My husband killed about 13 mice. And it was so annoying. When we thought that he had killed one, here comes another one. The mice were so bad in this trailer. We eventually had to move out of this trailer and I was so glad. It had water bugs that would not leave the trailer.. I don't have mice in this apartment that we are in now. I am glad, I don't want to see any mice either. I hope that you find a way to get rid of the mice in your home. Try some Sulfur and sprinkle it on the outside underneath your house. Try that and see if this will be an effective poison for the mice.

hi powerbrokenape! ^^ Yes, we currently have mice problem in our house. I have seen small mice scuttering around and it just gives me goosebumps! I don't have any idea how to get rid of them. I have thought of placing mice traps in the corners of our house but it's kind of dangerous for my little nephew and niece who are so hyperactive and play around the house all the time. They might stumble in the rat traps and hurt themselves. We can't risk that. There is a stray cat who always stops by our house but it's useless. It stops by our house only to eat.^^;; darn cat. I haven't considered having a cat in our house because no one will take care of it and it might end up getting hungry everyday and stealing food in our table.^^;; So, I'm out of ideas about the mice and I'm just hoping they just get out of our house on their own.^^;; Oh, my niece saw a little mouse one time and she got so amazed that she just couldn't help but wait for it come out again.^^;;

First off, yes I have had mice in my house before. I remember about 10 years ago living in a house and a mouse went speeding under some furniture or something and soon after my cat went chasing after it haha. It kind of scared me a bit :P As for more recently, apparently my parents have been hearing something in the attic (which is above their room) keep them up at night and they think its a mouse or mice. They laid traps but I dont believe that the mouse or mice fell for it. Secondly, I find that very weird that you are finding mouse droppings in your computer! I wonder why they would make such a thing a home. Maybe because its nice and warm because computers can get quite hot I know. And I dont quite understand how they are getting into your computer though.. Is part of the case off of it or something?

We face this problem often, I use peanut butter in the traps and steel wool in any hole that they may be using o come into the house. Quite often we will have to catch 7 or more to remove the family that has come into the house. We live near a creek that runs all year and I thin we have a river rat under the house this winter. I may have to call pest control to take care of that pest.

Keep an eye on the steel wool. Eventually it will rot and will need to be replaced. But then I heard recently it should be SOS pads because both the soap and the steel wool keep the mice out. Whatever works. The steel wool appeared to be working for us until it rotted away.

We have mice in our house as well. I have heard a lot of people say the mice are really bad this year. I havn't had mice in my house since I bought it and now I do! We set traps out and were getting like two a day! We havn't caught any for a while so we quite setting the traps but now we have some again I seen him two days in a row running across the living room. He is very little so that worries me that there are a lot more again (babies) they reproduce so many at a time! Guess the traps are going back out. Had one set last night but then the dog decided to go up to it and eat the pb off of it. I am surprised he did get his tongue caught in it. That would have been a sight to see LOL

When I first found mice in my house I found the turds under the kitchen sink mostly, but I was disturbed when I found them in the family room on top of the bar and inside the sofa bed! Ugh! That was a shocker. To think these things are having a field day in my house at night while I slept. We tried many things to get rid of them... mouse poison, mouse traps, sonars and also, we found a hole in the foundation of our house so I plugged that up with steel wool. That helped until the steel wool began to rot away and we got the mice again. Recently we found one caught in the trap. The trap was vertical against the pipe under the sink. We could see the tail. All of a sudden the mouse moved, thrashing about trying to get out of the trap... we all went screaming from the room. This happened several times over the next half hour until it finally disppeared WITH the trap! The hole it goes down is long and narrow so quite the feat to pull a trap down there with it. These rodents gross me out. Check out my story of my mouse experiences here: http://gomestic.com/rural-living/theres-a-mouse-in-the-house/

When there was construction going on behind our house, the mice came in to our house as their habitats were taken over. So gross!

I have had mice before. I just moved into my house I live in now. I have some signs of mice, but I have a good cat that is a mouser. Which means she will catch them, or run them off.It is a bother to have mice, I would think your cats would catch them. Have a great day.

Hi powerbrokenape, We don’t have any rats at home right now. But we had a lot and we used the trap-box and trapped all of them and released them in a park. There were 6-7 small rats and it was surprise for us because we thought that it was only one or two. No we are relieved much because they damaged our washing machine by cutting the wire and finally we called the mechanical people for repairing the same. I hope you can also catch them before destroying anything at home.

I hate mice, we get them during the winter, we live out in the country and we've got a pasture by the house so I guess they're looking for someplace warm to live, they like warm places so inside your computer must be a warm place. I've got mouse traps set up all over the place, we've gotten a few this winter, but I haven't been seeing that many, I hope they stay away..lol.

The only experience I've had with mice in the house happened a long time when our daughter was about 2. My parents were remodeling their house when we went to visit. They had torn down most of the house and were living in the garage. Since a bedroom had already been rebuilt, so they put my husband, children and me in there. I put our clothes in a chest of drawers Mom had provided for us. Guess that mouse came in under the door. Anyway, he made a nest in a brand new dress I had brought for out daughter. He chewed up so much of it that it was irreparable. D-Con mouse bait works, but I'd make sure to put it where the cats can't get to it.

Wow, well I can't say my mouse story is like yours, but it's similar. It was AGES ago, when I was still a teen, at home on my computer. Our computer is in the porch, which was an attachment built onto the existing house, so we can see our chimney, since it's a part of the wall now. We have our nice office desk right in front of the chimney, and the computer desk is right beside it. So I'm just on the computer, doing my thing, email, playing, etc, when I feel like someone is watching me, so I glance around, see nothing, then go back to what I was doing, on my way back to looking at the computer, I notice this tiny little field mouse, just sitting there on the corner of the desk, staring at me, while cleaning his little paws. My first reaction? "AW! I shall call him Spinelli!", second reaction? "AH! A Mouse!", third reaction, "Juliuuuuusssss...I got something for youuuuuuuu..." Julius was our cat at the time. Well the mouse was placed outside, by me, because I didn't want to see the poor thing get batted around by our cat, so I picked him up by the tail, and let him outside. We still have mouse traps at various parts of house now.

Oh my goodness I know about having both mice and rats. In this house we have a problem with mice. But its a old house and near woods. They are coming in at night to get warm. Now in my last house we had rats. Great big ones. We could feel them in our couch they got on our bed. My old cat almost got one of them. I finally put poison out near all the old heating ducts(it used to be heated by an old woodstove and had ducts running to other parts of our downstairs there. And in no time they were gone. We

What are you putting on your mouse traps? When we lived in Niagra Falls, the mice were getting away with the cheese. We were feeding them instead of killing them. Then a neighbor told my Father to use peanut butter. We were able to kill them much better then. Just keep your cats away from the traps so they don't get hurt. Also it depends on how many you have. My Dad kept a count on our fridge the year they seemed to be everywhere in W. Chazy. My Uncle was a drunk and he never noticed the mice multiplying in his trailer. So when he moved to Senior housing, the field mice had to go somewhere warm. Everything seemed to have mice poop on it and they seemed to be everywhere in our walls. So what was the grand total after about two months of intensely killing mice? 77

Mice in computers. Great.. There should be a mouse right.. One with a long wire used to point..Anyways, we also have mice at our place and they have been successful in tearing some of my clothes to bits. Bit irritated about it, but its fine since they were old and I was looking for a way to dispose them of anyways. Mice are one pests that nobody seems to like much. bourne

In my house, thank goodness I have not seen one bug or one mouse. I hope to not to see one or my cats getting a hold of one. I remember visiting my parents at their condo and one of the cats was chasing something in the family room. She had it caught between her paws and made sure we could not get it lol. When we finally found out what she had, we tried not to scream cause we didn't want my mom freaking out. So my dad was able to get rid of it. So only one mouse there but I remember back in our first apartment with my family we had a bug and mouse problem. Luckily the cats were there to get them when they did come out but we didn't want them playing with them though lol.

Hi PBApe! I don't think we have mice here in the apartment. But way back the on our old house, there are rats, big big rats, like some are the size of a kitten. They're really gross! Cats don't scare them away. Anyway, they live in the ceiling and sometimes they make noise at night like they're gnawing away the roof. LOL rugrats, calyxus

yeah we have a lot of mice here! I think all of them comes from our neighbor, our cat usually kills them all but after a day or two, they will all come up again. Keeping a cat inside the house is very helpful, theyr eally eat up the heads of those mouses! eeew!
