Why can't railway lines be wider?

Hi friends, majority of the railway lines we see all over the world are all almost of the same width. Why can't they be wider? Wider rails prevent the trains from toppling and help the train negotiate sharper bends at higher speeds.

I suppose it's because a standard was set all those years ago and it would take too much money to redo everything.

HI! I think rail ways have the same wide, because of the international trains, that pass across many countries, and if the rail ways in every country have a different wide, then it will be very bad for the passengers! The

Takes place larger and larger cost than the current size. If made out of balance, then the train would get off track if they are too fast and uncontrolled.
