Yes, I've done this frequently when I was stressed out and looking for my mom or stepmother as a child or teenager. Now that I"m a an adult, I still sometimes mistake them, but I haven't actually thought anyone was mother who was not in a long time.

Its been a long time but it has happened to me several times. I called my teacher in primary school mum, but I don't think she noticed, or she was just nice enough to pretend so I wouldn't feel awkward. But since then I haven't called anyone mum or dad by mistake.

I have done it just 1 time, when i was with my mum shopping,at 9 or 10 years.I was in the market and there where lot's of people.I didn't see where my mum was,she actually was behind me,but i saw a woman with the same jacket my mum had,and the same color.I grabbed his hand and told her "let's go" and after that i saw that it was not my mum

I have done that many times. Don't worry about looking like a fool when you call someone else Mom or Dad. I've done so to my teachers and other. It's a natural thing; you probably see in these people the same qualities and characteristics that your parents possess. For instance, even though your teachers are not your parents, they are still the ones who are responsible for you during school hours, they care, they still form and shape you, they sometimes discipline you. They act like parents. However, you have to be careful because calling another person mom or dad can, depending on the relationship between you and your real parents, show admiration or disrespect.
