Hi Lord,
Yahoo messenger in our office is open. we don't have any problem using our YMs. we are conscious enough not to abuse the use of it especially during office hours. if ever it will be blocked we can still chat with our friends via our email. we can also be online once we open our yahoomail so there's no problem about it!

Well good for you. I also communicate vie email, but no matter what, it is more fun to communicate using yahoo messenger or any other instant messaging software. Most of user actually never abuse Yahoo Messenger use, because they need to their get job done, no matter what, so if they have much in their hand, they will finish the job. But some time, if we stress enough, or have a little free time, than it is better to do some chat to relax our self for a while.

Niceee, good for you. Relaxing and checking yahoo messenger while doing mylot and make extra money from it. It really are nice. Well i hope my office become less strict about this kind of policy because it really are annoying to not be able to keep up with your friend and seeing how they are doing. Anyway thanks for responding to this discussion again my friend. Cheers!

I don't agree with this. We can use office computer for personal use, like mailing thing to friend or using them for browsing some web. I think, as long as you get your job done, and you done no harm to your job and your office, it really doesn't matter. I have computer in home, but there is no way i bring them to office since it will have no use since i still use the office network. Anyway, thanks for responding.

Well actually, it is not HIS PROPERTY, and it is not HIS TIME. It's the company property, and actually, my Boss actually want to chat too. But he can't since the IT Dept doesn't allowed it, because it is more easy for us to communicate at work if we had Yahoo Messenger. And actually, chatting will not make me loose my job, the it dept actually have their yahoo messenger active all the time. And the company actually allowed people to chat using mobile device like black berry. My Job don't require me to be focus on the job all the time. I even my lotting from the office right now. They based my performance by result, as long as i get my job done. They don't really care. Thanks.

Yes, most school block sites like that. Usually they block social networking site like friendster, facebook, twitter and adult friendfinder. Also they block many chat application like skype, yahoo messenger, msn messenger, imo.im, meebo and many many more. I hate that policy, but what can i do :(

oh i see, that is really bad. To have the it blocked many of our favorite site, it is kinda depressing. I know they mean well but it still too much. With many mobile device, people can access many site easily, so what they do is not effective at all if it mean to make people more focus to their work. Anyway, i stil can acccess imo.in for chat even though they block yahoo messenger.

You office is much better than mine. My office don't give staff an internet access. Only manager and above get internet access. So, I think you must be grateful.

Oh i see, well that is good for you. My office block yahoo messenger, but now, since i use a black berry mobile phone, i can use yahoo messenger from that mobile device. I think it is more fun that way since i can use it almost anywhere, and the connection is much more stable thank web messenger like imo or meebo. Thanks for your reply men.

it is not block, in fact, in other departments, it is only YM that is allowed. browsing with those computers are turned off. it is a quick way where we can send files and type orders or tell them to follow up payments.

Well, that is one the example that you actually can use Yahoo Messenger For Work, and not simply to chat in the chat room with a random stranger. Well you are very lucky. You can keep chatting while work, and communication must be more cheap and simpler for you. ANyway, thanks for responding to this discussion my friend. Happy mylotting.

The last time that I worked outside of my house, it was most definitely not allowed at our office. Actually, we weren't supposed to be online at all even though the computers were hooked up to the network. However, I told my bosses point blank that I would walk if I was not allowed to use the internet while my scanner was running. I worked at a yearbook company and my job was to scan and edit the photos into the computer. I felt that if I wasn't allowed to waste time while the scanner was running then I wouldn't be able to stay productive.

Well then, did your boss then allowed you to do so. My Boss actually doesn't really care about this. Since he really like to chat to, but the IT Dept have rules, so he actually doesn't agree with that rule too. The sad thing is, The IT Dept is the only dept that are able to do chat. It is what make most of the other employee mad. Is like parent that are smoking, forbidden their kid to smoke. Well thanks for your respond.

Quite often the reason offices do this is to prevent people from spending their time chatting instead of doing actual work. Work time should be for working only, and personal time should remain seperate. Quite often people who work in offices should be busy doing work, and not off chatting. That should remain in your privite time.
The computers at my last job weren't that capable to do the basic chat fuctions so blocking them wasn't an issue.

Well, i think as long as we get our job done, it really doesn't matter. Especially since the job some time require us to do some extra work that are actually not our job. And chatting is also usefull for work too. Especially for communication and maintaning informal relation ship with client, friend and other work mate. It is more fun and more cheaper. Almost the same like facebook and most social networking. Thanks for replying.

Well it is the same with me, try using mobile software like e-buddy to chat. Or use your cellphone or your usb modem to connect to the internet. I know it cost you more money, but to be able to chat while working is a plus, i think it is worth the money. Thanks.
