What are the disadvantage and advantage in working in a call center? And How do you handle an irate customer regarding his or her issue?

I worked in a call center for 4 months, and there are a lot of irate customers, in a day you would get 2-3 irate/difficult customers. The pay is good compared to what you'll get from a typical job. You also get to pratice your english language, you will learn technical terms and also other helpful information. You also get all the benefits for healthcare, social security, tax and pag ibig. Plus there's a lot of incentives. But, the disadvantage is you are on a graveyard shift and because you also need to live during the day you sometimes get few hours of sleep. If you have an important errand to go to, like for example go to an office or something like that, you can't because you are usu. asleep and have to save enough strength for the next shift. You also have to maintain a certain quota that if you dont reach it you lose your job. Also, working in a call center you have to be emotionally tough because there's a lot of people that will hate you because you are not American and that they don't like to speak with you because you oursourced. If you are so emotional, dont work there. Thats all.

I have worked in a call center for a long time and I loved it!But the place where I worked you just wouldn't believe it! We started at 10 am and only had a few people
there and you could dress however you wanted and there was a lot of loud rap music going on and a lot of people just messing around we had a blast! At times it was frustrating. You had to get so many sales to keep your job and I was on straight commission and on a bad week my check was 500 and on a good week it was 1,000 and over! They made it so fun to be there at times you would be able to laugh all day long! Something new would happen every day. Some of the people my boss hired was beyond me and a lot of other people there as well I was there for a long long time and we all used to go out if it was someones birthday or just wanted to get away fom that place but it shut down in September and everyone had to go different ways and the call centers I have been applying to are nothing at all compared to what I am used to!

Yeah, you have to cope with the call center environment and it's a temporary job because I heard that an agent only stay for 3 months after that transfer to other call center or being promoted if they stay for long. What is the reason behind after 3 months they resign from their work? Compare to you company is being shut down for good.
