Hi all,
So, here what I feel. I believe and love to learn about new cultures and languages. But sometimes I feel that we human being surpass the need of language. We can communicate basic expression without a language. Like my mom. I will elaborate it for you guys.
I have just posted a new discussion on watching cookery shows and hunger. I feel hungry when I watch these shows and thanks to my mom that she prepares after learning those recipes. Actually, she doesn't know English. But without my help she understand and prepare out of her knowledge. Amazingly, she prepares that very well.
So, guys do you think that sometimes language is not all you need to get the idea or understanding? Share if you have experienced this in your life?

Hi, great is ur mother that without understanding she cooks the dishes with great excellence.once we learn to walk then there is no need for us a stick. Its just happens .when we have the learning attitude then nothing can be a barrier.Language is just for communicating with people. But if u hav the understanding ability then it cant be a hurdle to understand what the other person is trying to tell.lot of patience is also required.

thats right,
My mom is also not so educated, but her learning abilities are far more ahead of me. I think thats why she can prepare all those things.

I believe that even if you are unable to speak the language you will be able to somewhat understand each other. i believe facial expressions are the key to any language. I work in a setting where my language is English, but a lot of Spanish only speakers use the facility. I do not know much Spanish, but am able to communicate with them through facial expressions and pointing out what I may be trying to say. I do not think that speaking is the only way to communicate with others.

Yes, commnication can be both verbal and non-verbal. We can understand and communicate what we want when it comes to basic and simple things just by using gestures and other forms of non-verbal communication but it can never replace the function of language in terms of communicating deeper thoughts and ideas. Ideas need to be clothed with words in order to be communicated and reciprocated meaningfully.

hello Beachlover! Sometimes, I also feel that I understand a particular language! Here in the Philippines there's so many dialects and sometimes when I heard other dialects, I understand it with out knowing what is it!. I guess the reason why this thing happen is because of my senses! Then because of their facial reaction it also give meaning to my eyes!

True,
You should visit India, its a country of more than 50 languages. I have not counted the dialects and accents people use. But still people understand eachother very well. Even people from different countries don't face any issues. We are launguage lovers. Being from some other country you will have a great time during that experience.

Yes I surely accept the fact that to understand people it is not necessary to know the language, and it is really great of you mom who does so much for you. This shows no barrier can stop love and affection shown by mankind towards each other.

Sometimes the spoken langyage isn't the only way to communicate with someone. Body languahe can be just as effective. You don't have to speak to understand.

Yes, I think so. I have also come across situations like that, and I figure out from their gestures and facial expressions what they are trying to say. I was in a foreign country then, where not so many people can speak English which would've been a common second language to us. But still, we communicate more effectively by speaking.

language act as tool to communicate between people. no language mean no communicate. i agree that without language we cant understand people. that is why we need to brush up our language especially English as it is a international language. others also very useful as Chinese and others.

Well, I agree sometimes you can understand people just by being there, looking at them, seeing what emotions they are express etc, but language makes it much easier.
There are some rare situations when language can be replaced, that's it.
I believe languages are necessary, no matter how you look at it.

Thats true my friend. Language is only an important medium of communication but thats not all. It is a proven fact that 85% of communication happens through body language and 15% through language. So, what you said was absolutely right.
It has happened with me. I interact with my Philippians colleague in a very effective manner through expressions and few gestures and not through language.
