Here in the United States it is a problem.I have to say they are very strict with catching these drunk drivers.I bring this up because I read in the newspaper someone only 33 years old got runned down,because they were walking with their brother,it was twelve midnight.Some drunk ran them down killing the 33 year old male.The drunk kept going and ditched his car a mile up the road.This happened a month ago and they now found out who did it and made an arrest.I think drunk driving is a problem here.The cops do their best to catch them.Is it a big problem in your country?

hi Java^^;;
here in the Philippines, yest drunk driving is very common and they only catch after you had the accident
nobody patrols and check intersection to catch those drunk drivers at night unless an accident already happened.
it's an irony, like the saying, "if drunk driving is not allowed, why are there parking lots on bars?"

I don't know about your country ,but it is very illegal here,because drunks cannot drive properly and they do kill people.So I don't know why you are asking,why there are parking lots if it's illegal for?I mean they do kill people because they can't drive.

yeah of course it's illegal here too. i think most part of the world have their own law against drunk drivers but it depends on how strictly they are being implemented.
..i think i was misunderstood here. i mean, why are there parking lots to park to their car when they go drinking and when it's time to go home, they still drive their cars back home. that is just a saying...

I believe this issue is a problem for every country.
Around my area, most drunk drivers get caught when its too late and they've crashed =/

drunk driving is a very big problem also in my country and especially in cities as people break all rules and drive under the influence of drinking. Drunk drivers are the major cause of accidents which kill and maim people for life.Even though such people are routinely caught and fined by traffic cops still people keep on drinking and driving, not caring that they are playing with the lives of others and also with their own. Such people get away with paltry fines or simple imprisonment of a few days or a month. There should be harsh punishments for drunk drivers. such persons lode their driving licenses but it is no big deal as with bribing officials a new license can be easily obtained.

Hi,Java09.I should say drunk dtiving is really a serious problem in my country.In the past few months, the media reported a lot of examples abhout this phenomenon.Many people die from some no moral drivers.And the citizens are angry about this.So the government carefully organized a series of special law enforcement actions which have a good affect.The related departement are organizing seminar now and try to change the law.We hope the drunk driver would be punished strictly one day.

I live in the U.S. as well, and drunk driving is a major problem in this country. You would think that people would learn not to drink and drive.

Yes it's the main cause of vehicular accidents in our country. Many precious lives got into waste because of this negligence. Many innocent people and children were victimized of this irresponsible act.But some can getaway with their crimes. I wonder if their conscience even bother them or they don't have it at all.

Alot of people that are drunk drivers,do not even think when they are drunk.Many people die everyday because some moron has to kill them.Drunk drivers are very very stupid to go out and get themselves drunk and then not know what they are getting themselves into.It is so dangerous.

yes, it certainly is. I think it is often the case in whichever a country because drunk driving is a threat to people's life. But the punishment may vary slightly due to different rules of different countries.

Definitely, i am from india, most of the accidents are from drunk driving only. During night time a lot more accidents are happening. Though police are doing a good job with a lot awareness programme, still most of the accidents are not controllable. The people should take care of avoiding drunk driving

In the UK it is a huge problem since the criminal justice system is flawed. The ones that are convicted just end up in jail for 2-5 years or in some cases just a fine and community sentence. Tbh this can be in some respects the same level as murder and should have a more hefty sentence. not just 2-5 years.
