Am I Weird Or Is Anyone Else Gaga Over Lady Gaga?

You might say I just "discovered" Lady Gaga. I've heard her name talked about on different shows but never paid attention, then listening to the radio while in front of the computer I hear some songs I liked but never caught the name of the song or the artist. This happened once before when a song was played as background music on HBO (when I had cable)...drove me nuts not knowing the name of the song or the group singing the song...later found out it was Clocks by Coldplay..needless to say I'm a die hard Coldplay fan. Well the same thing happened just last night. On Oprah Winfrey she had Lady Gaga...I caught the end so didn't hear what song she sang, so zoomed over to good old reliable Youtube and typed in Lady Gaga...nearly fell off my chair when one of the videos I watched was the same songs I've heard on the radio--Bad Romance and Paparazzi. For those of you have not seen the full length versions of either song, yes they ARE very weird--kind of avant guarde-ish..you know kind of "artsy"? And just plain weird...but I love them and now I'm a fan of Lady Gaga's. And now can't get those two songs out of my head. Have you ever become an "instant" fan of an artist/musician cause you're fascinated by their, well, weirdness? Anyone else a fan of hers or is she a bit much for you? Here's a video, and I might add a VERY tame version of Paparazzi (to see the "real" version you have to go to YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC1DRAxJr_A&feature=player_embedded

Sorry to hear the sound on your computer is acting up, or should I say not acting up?

I like Lady Gaga. But I love her songs more than her fashion sense and her music videos. Innovative but a bit on the weird side for me, so I think only she can pull it off. Most of her songs are catchy, but she really has a good voice. I became an instant fan of hers when I first heard Just Dance.

Yes she does seem to pull off her weird fashion sense and videos very well--rather eye-catching...LOL. But let's face it "gimmicks" sell and attract attention, right? I guess in today's music world one has to promote oneself with a different approach.

That's right. A lot of artists have gimmicks these days to attract attention, otherwise they would be just like everybody else doing the same blah and their records wouldn't sell. But Lady Gaga really has the voice to back it up. As she said, you can be smart and in your underwear..LOL. Well, that's just her.

I like most of the songs that come from Lady Gaga! I like "different" types of artists. She definately has her own style! I also have checked out the videos on youTube. In my book, she's up there with Pink.

I did see Pink on the grammies. Awesome performance..like last year! Lady Gaga and Elton John, of course, were magnificent!

Funny you mention Pink. Did you see her spectacular performance on the Grammies just recently? Fantastic! Lady Gaga and Elton John did a duo performance together there too

eh..i'll give her props for being individual..but i'm not a particular fan of her music.although i do like the cartman from "south park" rendition of poker face. dale bozzio from "missing persons" had almost the same style 20 years ago.

Hey there Pye,I first saw Lady Gaga on some show on tv..not sure what because I never really watch the tv...it is sometimes just on for noise effect. Anyway, she caught my attention and I thought, what a weirdo. then I was listening to some song on the radio and asked my daughter who it was and it was her...I actually liked it a lot. Some of her stuff is pretty good. Cold play....Oh my Gd! I love just about all they do! Ya, I stumble across either artists or a song and I'm in love but it doesn't always last. I loved a Blue October song...bought the disc and don't like most of their music. I listened to Cake...love almost all their stuff. The used was another group I just stumbled upon...they are great. "She wants revenge" is another group I just stumbled upon and love and looked up and downloaded more of their music from listening to just one song.

I'll have to check out those musicians you mentioned as to be honest, uh, never heard of them Yeah I'm real big on Coldplay, also Greenday and Nickelback. Another song that gives me an earworm now is Fireflies by Owl City...ever hear of it?

I'm just betting people can't figure me out. On my profile I have a playlist...it has Lady Gaga on it...just added the other night, but I have a real hodgepodge of music from Native American music, opera, ballet, jazz, Coldplay, you name it. One of my friends here said he spent something like 45 minutes on my profile just listening to all my music...LOL

Hi there pye,Nope, I have never heard of Owl City. I'll have to check that out. I think "The Used" is awesome and you might like it. Cake and "she wants revenge" isn't for everyone but I like them. Weezer is good as well as Jack Johnson. I love music and a wide range of it. Sometimes people come into my home and are like,"what the heck are you listening to?"

I am a fan but not really gaga over Gaga..=) I love her voice.. somehow similar to Christina Aguileras voice.. Her music videos are weird but i can say they are unique, sexy but not trashy.. Well, that's my opinion. My younger brother is gaga over her way before she got the spotlight.

Yes she does have a good voice. Actually rather than Christina Aguileras she reminds me more of a young Madonna though

I don't really like her but don't really dislike her either, maybe I have to check out some of these videos :) There are a few songs of her's that I think are pretty good for parties. But the only time I've seen her perform was on Gossip Girl where her performance was a little odd but not that odd. So let me see what she's doing over on youtube :)

I happen to catch her performance with Elton John at the Grammies...Elton John in his heyday was known for his eccentric outfits...compared to Gaga they were rather tame--thought they made a great duo

Yes, pyewacket, if you like Lady Gaga you might just be a little weird! My 6-year-old g,grandson is wild about "Papparazzi", and so is my daughter. I don't know why, but she just doesn't appeal to me. I think it's a case of liking a certain song by a performer, but not really a fan. With me it's Mariah Carey. She has made one or two songs that I truly liked but I would not say that I'm a fan.

LOL--talk about opposites...there's something about Mariah Carey I've just never liked...yes, she's a great singer...but.....did you hear a few weeks ago she attended some kind of award show to accept best supporting actress in Precious and well, was drunk? I think any celebrity who has a great following needs to be aware what a negative message something like this gives out, especially since a lot of young girls might be fans of hers and maybe have visions of being as successful to her

I saw one performance on American Idol and was not very gaga over it at all. I could see potential, but I just didn't like her style. Maybe another song... A couple of years ago, I was on another site (where I have most of my personal stuff), Multiply, and a friend their had just posted Mika's album (Life in Cartoon Motion, I think it was). So I played it and liked a lot of the songs and went and bought it. The kids actually like it too!

Hey pye! I think this is going to be the very first time we have ever been in total disagreement and I am very sorry! But, I can't stand Lady Gaga! I think she is weird, annoying and has no talent and I know that there will be many people who disagree with me because she is very popular! But, her song "Pokerface" leaves me wanting to "poke her in her face"! I can't watch her, listen to her music or anything! Sorry, but I just can't get interested in anything she does! And believe me I have tried on many occasions because she is all over the Net and everywhere else!

well, i like her catchy song. the repeating of the words. her style is nice. but sometimes it is a bit showy for a conservative type like me. but when you hear the whole song, you can think of a double meaning. i don't know. maybe when i see her dance and all, you can think negatively.

She's 23, I can't wait for her next album. She's already released two although The Fame Monster only has eight tracks it's still a very good album.

I love Lady Gaga. I have covered her song: Bad Romance. I also remake Eh Eh and Paparazzi to Indonesian language. I love Gaga when I watch her Just Dance video on MTV Chart. But, I prefer to Britney. She is a legend and truly icon of pop. Gaga just new artist but really great too.

I fell for Ms Gaga when I saw her on Barbara Walters. She reminds me of the young Madonna but she has a stronger voice. She seems like a nice kid. i still haven't heard any of her songs from beginning to end but I am a fan.I hope she gets her Grammys.

I like weird artists especially if they are able to "stand by" their weirdness. Lady Gaga is one those I admire. She is really unapologetic with the way she dresses and the way she moves. She wears her weird clothes with an air like she is just wearing shirt and jeans. I wish I could be as brave as her. Also, she never fails to surprise me with her performances. She burned a piano, I think, once. Of course, these weird artists I admire must also be "harmless". They are just the way they are, but they would not hurt anybody or encourage anybody to do bad. Have you heard Lady Gaga talk? Lol. She sounds sweet. Cheers!

I think it takes a lot of belief in oneself to pull something off the way Gaga does. Yes, I heard her talk since she was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show and she does sound sweet--kind of totally different from her image in her videos

haha! I like her too! love her songs and style. But lately, after seeing her performance and "outfit" on MTV Music Awards (you know the red blood-like costumes and weird red hat which covered her face) I find her really crazy! But no doubt, Gaga is really talented. I like her voice and fashion for music. But, please Gaga lessen those crazy outfits and focus more on your talent. Okay?! haha!

I think in many way things are relative. Another person who was considered very eccentric in what she wore and got a lot of criticism in the past was Cher ...she wore an outfit that got a lot of comments over and thought to be just as bizarre...of course nowadays her outfit would be considered mild next to Gaga's...LOL

You're not alone. Lady Gaga is very famous in the Philippines, in fact you can hear most of her songs in the radio. She's just been here on a concert and it was a sold out concert considering that it's her second time. Even my 3 and 4 year old kids love her songs. Good thing they did not watch the MTV since as you've said they're a bit artsy and not suitable for minors. But lady Gaga is now a household name in the Philippines.

I still haven`t given an opportunity to Lady Gaga. Everyone seems to be crazy about her, but what I have heard so far didn`t sound very special to me. I think that hasn`t happened to me, getting interested instantly in any artist. If that happened, it would be because the artist is very good and original in his/her/their music.

Ok first of i totally agree on the fact that you fell for her because of the weirdness she might expose and second, i find the beats to her songs are extremely addictive! I mean i hear bad romance paparazzi love game alejandro well it's a long list so i'll stop here, almost everyday. Thank you for being a fan and YES i don't find it weird that you became gaga over lady gaga ;)
