my aunty was a vegetarian after the death of my grandma. because she believe in feudal superstition .there's a saying that if your parents are vegetarians, after the death of them one of their kids must become a vegetarian or their parents won't live well in the dell. i know that's just a superstition, but many chinese old women in the county believe that. i also know some foreigner are vegetarians too. what's their reason? do they have a certaiin belief?

That's one weird superstition.
Most vegans do it for health reasons (vegetables take less energy to get digested, so it's said that vegans have more energy within), while some just hate the idea of killing animals for food.
The Bible said that we humans are supposed to eat vegetables only, but if they run out, we could resort to eating animal flesh.
I am not a vegetarian, but I think being one is one of the greatest thing I could ever do in life. I love animals very much, but I still eat meat. I just try to eat more veggies.

I am not a vegetarian because I love meats, especially beef and seafood. I think people who are vegetarians are very kind because they pay attention to other creatures' lives and they prefer to eat vegetables and fruits only. Unfortunately I can't do it. Some vegetarians don't eat meats because they want to have a healthier body.
I love China

Hello rose66 me too am an partime vegetarian, means only have non-veg on two day in a week time, that too when am with all my relatives, getogether.Well myself have observed that its really beneficial to eat veggie as it goes soft on our body and feelings, but non-veg do provides us with lots of proteins that energises us, and also feel better in strength.Instead veggies makes me feel cool and calm, relax, think its the cooling properties with veggies, vitamins.Anyways i don;t believe in any superstition but do believe in medical reason in selecting foods.Happy mylotting.

veggies? yuck!!! - just kidding. I love vegetables, i eat them raw or rare, or well done, depends on the dish, but generally i eat them all, not a vegetarian though. what i'm saying is, i eat healthy food, and meat is healthy too, lol.
being a vegetarian is a choice that people make, whether it's a product of superstition or a norm according to their belief or whatever the reason is. I know some who doesn't eat meat because their system, i mean stomach, can't take it. And i'm heads up to these vegetarians actually, because they have great skin, maybe not all, but mostly.

Hi, rose
This is the first time that I heard of that superstition.
As for me, I do not think I will ever be a vegetarian. I like vegetables, I like meat. I like to eat, period I like to eat healthy but I also like to try different dishes.
I admire vegetarians and vegans and I have great respect for what they do and what they believe in.
Have a nice day!

I'm a vegetarian. And I have been for about.. 7 1/2 years now! It's been an amazing journey. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's not because I have any superstitions, but simply because I don't think it's right that animals are killed for meat, not when we have as many resources as we do.

Wow! I have never heard that before. How could what I eat here help or hurt someone who is gone to the other side? I prefer a vegetarian diet for my health's sake! Most people here think I am crazy as I live in the southern US and it's a meat eating society!

I am a pure vegetarian.Being a Brahmin (Hindu priestly class) i am not allowed to eat non-veg.When i was a small kid i was mad at non-veg food and i used to eat it furtively like once in a year or so.But when i grew up i quit eating non veg food forever. Now i am regretting that i shouldn't have eaten it when i was small.Man's teeth and digestive system is designed for vegetarian foods. And killing animals for eating their flesh is cruelty.Go to a slaughterhouse in your vicinity and see how brutally they kill innocent animals..If you have a conscience you wont eat non-vegetarian food again.
By the way, is it true that chinese eat dogs?Dogs are man's best friends :(

It may be the belief. All living beings have soul. If you are vegetarians, the soul of the animals will praise the humans. It is the belief that a dying person gives any curse, it may happen at once. It is also a belief. There after anything is happening in the family, it is because of that curse. This may or may not be true but it is all to make people to do good and to get good.

I think a large percentage of vegetarians abstain from eating meat for health reason. It's link to some types of cancers and it's very high in fat.
I personal am a vegetarian solely because I think it's morally object able to eat an animal. I don'y wear or buy leather or fur either. If someone doesn't have any other nutritional alternatives than meat, in my opinion, that's different. But for me, I think it would be wrong.

Well I am a non-vegetarian. I eat chicken and beef and i enjoy fish and mollusks.
I am from India, and here there are many communities that are vegetarians. Bhramins community of Hindu religion in south India are an example.
By Hindu religion believes Cow is sacred and so Hindus shouldn't eat cow meat.
But younger population of the communities are getting more and more comfortable with non-veg..here now people are turning vegetarian because of health concern rather than based on believes..

well I am a vegetarian myself and I do it for health reasons. I believe that being a vegetarian makes me healthier than when I am not a vegetarian. I eat all kinds of vegetables especially those that are rich in fibers. I consume a lot of tomatoes. I eat red tomatoes almost everyday because it makes me feel good.

Am not a Vegan. According to me, a man cannot live without killing other creatures and eating it. Plants also have life, and we kill them also to get our food, if we are vegan. If that is going to happen for sure, why not take up non-vegetarian food?
