What should I do if I want to sleep but I can't sleep?

I don't have any disease or whatsoever but I just can't sleep. I've been like this for weeks and the problem would arise the next day since I will get up afternoon. I think my sleeping time has shifted 360 degrees because my sleeping time now is 5 am. I drink milk, do exercise and tire myself off but nothing works. Hmm. What do you do to make yourself sleep.

hi! is there any reason for a sudden change in sleeping pattern? were you stressed or not relaxed at all? something bugging you?
if milk, exercise and tiring yourself are not an option... how about any of these:
- hot shower. refreshes and relaxes the body.
- body massage in the evening. it eases off stress and relaxes.
- hot choco. it emits warm feeling, also relaxing. you can try tea also.
- favorite scent as an air freshner. sets a relaxing mood.
- slow music and melodies. relaxes the ears and may actually lull you to sleep.
- read. it tires the eyes easily and your brain just might order your eyes to shut close. hehe
- turn off the lights when you go to sleep. the light emits an energy sensed by our brain. a nice sleeping environment should be relaxing... less energy picked by our senses.
- turn off your cellphone. anticipation of calls or text messages can actually keep you awake.
- don't eat anything at least a couple of hours before bedtime
- make your room and your bed as comfortable as possible. it encourages sleep
if you were a bit older, i would have suggested a hot and wild night in bed with your partner. don't stop until you are bone tired and you want to catch some sleep.
but such as it is... hehe... hope you'll be able to find something above.

Oh, I want to try that hot chocolate and massage. I am not actually a reader, I don't read much but of course I can read. I remember I used to draw different stuff and this lulls me to sleep. I remember now(I think memory lapses can be the cause, LOL).
From the list above, I really like is the body massage. I think one good massage can actually relaxes all my muscles and all cells will tell my neurons to sleep. LOL. Thanks for a very comprehensive list you have here. See you around.
