Transforming from Essays to Multiple Choice Questions

I have come to study in the USA and the system is so different from my country. In my country, people have multiple choice questions upto grade 8. From high school, you read the questions and write down the answers without having the chance of choosing from any multiple choices. I am used to writing essays and noting down my correct answers to various questions. I am finding it difficult for me to adjust to this system especially at the undergraduate level. How do I transform my mind to this so diferent system?
