I finally got a chance to watch James Cameron's movie Avatar with my best friend the other night. I was greatly amazed with its different plot!It was fantastic, this is not just one of those movies out there who amazed us with terrific high technology gadgets but this is the story of how to take care of our mother nature and the lives of the natives.
I was very impressed because the story teaches us that we should protect and the mother earth, that trees are sources of life, that we should not be selfish with our motive to rampage the forest for wealth purposes. There are many lives that will be destructed if we don't think of taking care of it. James Cameron is really one of the talented directors in hollywood. Wonderful film indeed.

i love the movie too! i especially like the night scenes.. bioluminescense (or something like that... i do not know the spelling) is so cool. i like the lesson that they want to teach us too. we should really be one with nature and not consume the finite resources found on earth. it saddens me that there are a lot of people who destroy our planet for a living. may God have mercy on their souls to destroy such a beautiful planet..
happy mylotting!

yes I agree, the scenes and effects are really amazing!James Cameron uses state-of-the-art gadgets for this film. I read from an article that he wrote this before he made Titanic but postponed the filming because there's no available technology to be used for this film before. It is always worth the wait.

I agree with you. I have seen the movie too and I was impressed. The movie though has a very optimistic ending, as modern man got defeated by the natives. We hope that like the movie, reality will match it, that nature will rule supreme and man will finally stop its senseless r*pe of Mother Earth.

I love the movie too. We do have same sentiments about the movie. The movie has touch many issues in life about greed and making money and most important of all respecting mother nature. In the movie we humans were depicted the bad guys in the movie but still there was a few ones that realized the importance of the what the natives of that planet were standing by. It somehow reminded me of the first European explorers that discovered the American continent. They conquered the land by doing exactly what was the movie all about except that in the movie the natives somehow succeeded in expelling the humans despite their lack in arms against them. Very nice plot indeed.

Yes this movie touched the issue of conserving our environment and how people's selfishness and greediness ruined the mother earth and the trees. There must be an urgent call to everybody to be vigilant with what's happening around because if mother earth will strikes back, we will be left nothing.

I watched this movie with my family and I like this movie. You are right. This is the theme of this movie. Perhaps 2012 is coming, so there are many rumors. And today our earth has been polluted by human beings and the situation is just going to be worse. So this movie can remind us to cherish our earth and don't spoil it.

Hello!
It is true our Mother Earth is being abused by selfish and greed people who want nothing but to gain wealth. It is time now that we do something for the preservation of our environment. Avatar movie reminds us that trees are sources of life that we must respect.

Hi, jlamela
Avatar is indeed a great movie. It shows us a kind of people who respects, loves and uses nature the way it should be used. It also shows us the classic lesson of those who operate with greed and shows disregard for life would never succeed.
James Cameron is one of the best

Hello there!
Thanks for your response. Yes it was a fantastic film and I don't think the billions spent by James Cameron here is just a total waste as what other people reacted. We should be thankful that such filmmakers like Mr. Cameron did this type of film which is attributed to taking care of the mother earth than do film merely to earn profit.
I just cannot understand why there are people who are not fair in their judgment and don't know how to analyze a plot. This is one of the great films so far we have around because of its lesson of protecting our environment.

I agree with you about taking care of the environment. It was very touching and sad the way the earth the people cherished was destroyed. If we care about our environment more they way they did in the movie, we would be so much better off. Avatar is a great movie and I keep watching it over and over.

I agree that it's a great movie to maybe help wake us up so that we'll start realizing what we are doing to the planet that gives us so much. We fill our mother earth with garbage like landfills and we drill holes in her for the hope of oil. We use a lot of mother earth's resources to make stupid things like cell phones and what not.
We should learn to be more conservative and less wasteful.

I haven't seen it yet, but I think I want to go see it. What are the chances that I can convince my husband to go with me. He hasn't been to see a movie since we were dating, he is just not a movie theater type of person. However, I also refuse to go by myself to see a movie. Is it really worth my money or should I just go ahead and wait until it is at the discount theater at this point in time? Please let me know.

I saw Avatar but not very impressed with the plot. It's been done before - not very original. The story isn't original just the setting. And I feel that the whole alien environment is a little tad too overdone. James Cameron spent almost half a billion dollars to create this surreal alien environment and with the economy as it is I think that is such a waste of resources. Movies like New Moon spent less than $50,000 and churned out profits in the hundreds of thousands. James Cameron is just an arrogant director who likes to spend money to make the perfect movie. Just see how much he spent to make Titanic.

Unfortunately, I heard about the plot, before I saw the movie, and although I look forward to seeing the special effects...
The evil capitalist white man invading the peace loving perfect one-with-nature 'earthy' people, in order to specifically destroy the environment for profit, is a rather tired and old repeated plot line from dozens of films.
And further, it's a plot line I don't really believe in.

I haven't watched the movie yet, and I didn't know that the plot was about saving Mother Earth. Well then great! The earth is getting destroyed every single day, that's why we people should be aware about what's going on with the environment. I think movies can teach us valuable lessons, if you know how to learn it and apply to yourself.
People have different opinions on movies, some may say it's great, some may say it sucks or it's just plain boring, but I think the ones who loved Avatar outnumber the ones who didn't.

Avatar is just a total rip-off of Disney's Pocahontas, Check it out Guy from other "world" comes to look for resources, guy meets "savage" girl, girl introduces the importance of nature, guy and girl in love, girl is actually the daughter of chief, chief almost get killed so on and so forth. The only great thing about it is it's Visual fx.
