I need advice about my cat - it is about her ears

Hi,
I have a kitten and she is only a month old. I found her from the back of my home during a very heavy thunderstorm. I heard her crying that's why I opened my back door and I saw her drenching wet because the water from the roof dropped on her like a waterfall. She couldn't even avoid the water because she was very little at that time. I think she was just a week old then. I asked my husband to pick her up and I wrapped her in a dry towel to provide warmth. She was blue all over at that time due to the extreme cold.
The next day I brought her to the clinic because eyes were full of sticky discharge which is greenish and yellowish in color. The doctor gave a lotion to put on her eyes and now it is cured. But now a new problem starts because her ears started to produce yellowish discharge like the one with her eyes and it smells bad. She doesn't want to eat now and she looks very weak, sleeping all the time and I don't know what to do.
Besides that, her lungs are producing terrible sounds like a heavy bronchitis problem. She coughs a lot and it sound like a very sick, old person cough. Every time she breaths, terrible sounds come from her lungs.
Please I need help from fellow friends if you know what is happening to my cat. I've went to the vet but she didn't give any medicine for the cough and lungs. I don't know what to do so today I put the eyes lotion on her eyes to see whether it would work. And about her lungs, I don't know what to do. Please, help me because I really love her now and I don't want her to suffer.
Thanks.

As someone else mentioned it does sound like your kitten has some kind of respiratory illness and would do best with some antibiotics and I'm surprised the vet didn't give you any. As for the ears...they sound as if they are infected and a vet can also give ear drops for that...of course the antibiotics would help both problems...her breathing/respiratory infection and ear infection. I'd take her as soon as possible too!!

The vet gave an antibiotic but that is only for the eyes... I thought it would cure all but it didn't. I'll take her to another vet as soon as possible. Thanks.

Yes, I will keep all of you updated with her progress. Now I am waiting my husband to come home so that he can bring us to the vet. I am going to ask for those two antibiotics for sure. Thanks for your info. After the vomit, I put her to sleep with a teddy bear and she got a nice one hour rest. But now she is awake and I fed her with a little kitten food from the syringe. Just a little though, because i don't want to make her vomit even though I really pity her because I know she is hungry.

Yes she would need separate antibiotics to give her either in pill or liquid form for the respiratory problem and a separate antibiotic for her ears--keep us updated okay? Hope she gets better

I agree. Take her to another vet. Voice your concerns that the kitty might have an ear and respiratory infection. A good vet should listen to your concerns. It does sound like she has some infections, getting antibiotics will help. Also you might ask the vet about any special care such a small kitty might need. They should be able to give you some helpful advice.

I am worried if she can take a lot of antibiotics. When I first brought her to the vet, the doctor gave an antibiotic which is to be taken for 7 days. During the first few days my kitten was very energetic, her eyes are cured and she looked very healthy. She takes her milk with eager and full of appetite. But after I stopped giving the antibiotic on the 10th day she began to look weak. She vomit, didn't want to drink her milk and she got diarrhea. Then she got spasms - I was really scared because mixed with her saliva was stains of blood.
I bought her to the vet to see what was the problem but the vet said it was nothing. I asked for vitamins then, maybe I thought it was the problem and the vet gave it to me. When she takes the vitamin, she got diarrhea again and become weak. Then she got skin problems, her tails, mouth and feet got itchy and she scratched until her furs all dropped. I am really worried, brought her to the vet again and she gave another antibiotic to eat. But I insisted her to be put into the ward because I don't know what else would happen to my kitten. I gave the vet all my kitten's medicines, vitamins and milk. But when I came back 3 days later I discovered the vet didn't give the milk, vitamin and antibiotic to her. I asked the vet what type of antibiotic? She said it is the same like the first one. And she said my kitten doesn't have to eat any antibiotics anymore.
Hmm... I'm worried some more, so I brought her home. She seemed happy for a couple of days but now her ears and lungs problem started. Thankfully the skin problem seem to diminish after I put the ointment, but she got diarrhea when I applied the ointment on her skin because she likes to lick the itchy area. Now she is sleeping with a teddy bear which I put to make her warm and as a friend because she doesn't have any friends. I really pity her and just now she vomitted again after I feed her with soft kitten food.
I will bring her to the vet today when my husband comes home. Thanks, and have a nice day.

Hi Aurone,
Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it. However.. god loves Jeera more than we do, and now she is no longer with us. She passed away yesterday afternoon. I want to say more, but now I am too depressed to be able to put it in words. Anyway, I wish you a good day and may god bless you and your kitty. Thanks again.

poor kitty!
she sounds like she needs to be put on antibiotics right now.
she probably has severe ear mites and bronchitis.

HI,
It seems that life is never fair... but I think the best thing to do now is to accept the fact that Jeera is no longer with us. She passed away yesterday afternoon with nobody at the clinic. I blame myself for it because I should be at her side when she needed me the most.

Diagnosing a cat's problems is sometimes very difficult. You do really need to get the poor baby back to the vet, it sounds like she may have gotten a respiratory infection and she needs medication for it FAST! I have had cats with a respiratory infection and the vet gave them a simple shot and it cleared it up in a very short amount of time. With it coming from the lungs and there being a cough with it she needs good vet help NOW! If you took her to the current vet and they didn't give her something, take her to another vet...Until you get her to the vet keep her warm and away from drafts. Make sure that you get fluids in her, even if you have to use an eyedropper and force them down her. Make sure the fluids are warm, and if possible get some canned cat food and mix it into a gruel that you can give her through an eyedropper. She really needs the nourishment and fluids to keep her alive and give her what she needs to fight the illness.
Just try to get the cat to the vet asap! Hope that things will turn out okay, my prayers are with you.

I'm really, really relieved to hear this from you, that your cat received a shot and the lung infection gets cleared shortly. I really pity my kitten because now she only sleeps all day, no energy at all, vomit and scratching her ears when she has the energy to do it.

My best guess would be that your little kitten has a very bad respiratory infection, and an ear infection as well. Have you tried putting her in the bathroom while you take a hot shower? The steam from the shower may help to loosen the mucus in her lungs a bit. I would highly recommend taking her to a different vet. If the one you took her to didn't do anything, or even tell you what is going on, you need one that will. In the meantime, encourage her to eat, even if you have to feed her formula through a syringe. You can buy special kitten formula at many stores. If nothing else, use evaporated milk. You may want to try vitamins as well. The main thing, I would think, would be to keep her nourished as much as possible so that she is able to help fight off this illness.
I wish you the best and really hope that you are able to get the help your kitten needs.

hello lady,
i don't even send my cats to the vet since i don't have the money. but that's even worse, as if the vet doesn't give a damn and just wants you to keep paying him. i agree with all the others, just look for a better vet. as for my male cat, he's actually having ear problems, he kept scratching it as if he's loosing hair in his ears and coughing too

sorry, to hear about your little kitty. Growing up in the country we had lots of cats, and lots of kitty deaths. It's still very sad, especially when they're so little and vulnerable. My best of wishes go with you.

I would most definitely see another vet if that one id not give you any antibiotics for that poor kittens lungs.
And the ears are definitely infected and require medication for that as well. I just had to treat my dog for an ear infection- it's not so hard- but the lungs are not something to mess with. I would get a second opinion if you want to save this kittens life.

I'm relieved to hear that the ear infection is easy to cure. At least I know my kitten has a hope to cure. I am worried about her lungs - and I'll take her to the vet today to get antibiotics for both the ears and lungs.
Thanks!

Sounds to me like a respitory infection. Most vets don't do anything saying they will clear up on their own. But, if your current vet won't take care of the cat, then take her to another one and be real persistant. I had to do that with the vets here when it came to their feline distemper shots.
If the kitten is less then a month old its going to require special care. Kittens aren't usually weened from their mothers until they are a month or more old. So see about seeing if you can find a milkk-like subsute for it because they can't eat solid foods right away. You may need to bottle feed her.
