Although I have nothing against red, I do not think I would prefer red for bedroom. For bed room it should be romantic light colours of your choice should be painted not the red. But red arouses you, then go ahead.

I think a warm beige would soften it up

i wud personally suggest blue for bedrooms, coz its a cool colour...but if u had opted for red, then red and white combination wud be sensual...try bedsheets and pillow covers red, and the sofa sets, chairs and almirahs white, also put curtains maroon or black...and it wud give fresh and romantic touch to ur room, if u still aren't convinced, try putting some nice wall hangings, mainly deep purple and white and yellow wud suffice...
