Hi guys. I would just like to ask you if you are a fan of different street foods. Personally, I love street foods most especially chicken barbecue. I remember when I was younger, my dad would buy us chicken barbecues almost every night for dinner. But sadly, I have discovered that street foods have a high possibility of getting contaminated or have food borne risks that can lead to various illnesses such as diarrhea and other gastrointestinal diseases.
If this is the case, are you still willing to buy street foods? Or are you more comfortable buying them in a place that is away from pollution and dust? Your responses will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I love eating street foods like kalamares, squid balls, barbeques, etc... yes, it's true that about the contamination things. The only thing is I only buy to those who looks properly cooked and is clean. But it still risky for us.. It is just one of the pinoy things I love.

If these foods were sold elsewhere like in a cleaner place but not on the streets, would you consider buying from that establishment?

if you can't judge the book by its cover....
therefore....
you can't judge the food by its appearance....

I used to eat street foods before but now I don't buy it anymore. I'm very cautious now not to eat street foods because of the illness that you going to get there. Some street foods are clean some are not it really depends if you really know who sell it whether they have clean preparation or not.

I used to like street foods. Now I am more cautious of what I put inside my body. Most of the street foods are fried, barbecue or grilled etc. (grilled fats contains carcinogens, fried foods are HIGH IN CHOLESTEROL ...) No offense to the street vendors but they are not that SAFE for me not to mention the free bacteria from flies. LOL:)

Hi there. Thanks for your response. You are right, there are adverse effects when eating street foods. But we can't deny the fact these foods have become a part of our diet. I guess the least we could do is to make these foods safer to eat by preparing and cooking them in good conditions and places. And that is the aim of our business plan. We do hope that it works out though.

In my experience, an adidas in Sm is around P50, 3 pieces only, However when you buy it on the streets your P50 they will give 20 pieces. No malls sell IUD or Leeg ng manok and inihaw na Butse(w/c is my favorite) Yes its true some of them may contain the E.coli and Salmonella, But they just did not tell us that our saliva is more than enough to kill those Bacteria before they even reach our gut. If you have not tried eating street foods, you can try some, Girl you are missing half of your life.

hi athinapie!
im a Filipino and i love eating street foods. they are really cheap and delicious.
the fact that they are cook well is proof enough to me that they are clean. otherwise no one would ever buy from the streets if they were ill from eating those street foods. just choose the ones that are raw and is cooked at your order.
i love street foods!

hi athinapie!
i like street food. i particularly like chicken and pork intestines dipped in spicy vinegar with lots of onions and chilli pepper. i also eat 'fishball' as well as 'squidballs'. i'm a big fan of quail eggs wrapped in orange food coloring ('kwek-kwek')as well.
anyway, what i really want to sample are the street food of other countries like that of india and thailand because i heard they have great tasting street food as well. sort of like borderign to the bizaare but definitely tasty.
as for the cleanliness of the food... hmmm, i really don't consider that when i indulge in street foods. i can deal with the illnesses, dirt, pollution and such as long as i get a chance to eat these street foods.
cheers!!!

Hi! I'm very much willing to buy and eat street foods. There is comfort if it would be placed away from pollution and dust but it wont have the magnetic attraction that keeps people looking for them. Its location is one of the factors why it is being patronized. Being on the street with all the dusts and pollutions its price is within affordable amount. The feeling of "you belong" makes it delightful to eat.Street foods are not just for those who cannot afford. Its a community based business where one can have interactions with neighbors.
Street foods are already part of my system. There is a feeling of emptiness if I don't eat any of them such as isaw,(chicken, pork intestines),fish balls, kikiams, liver, balot, etc. There is eminent danger on getting food borne diseases when we eat street foods. In general the quality control of their preparation is behind passing the sanitary grade impose by any law or ordinance. But the bottom line is my satisfaction every time I tasted them.Unhealthy yet satisfied. That's the reason why I love eating them.

I can't say that i'm a fan of street food but i do eat it. I recall several years ago that i was used to having pork intestines for dinner almost everyday. So far i have not been sick from eating barbeques and eggs. But i tried to avoid the chicken intestines as much as possible since its really dirty, even the smell of chicken poop lingers sometimes . That why i make sure that it's really cooked before i ate it. Now my favorite is street calamares, It just taste like one, but i make sure that the oil used in cooking is still clear and don't look like crude oil already. I recall a colleague of mine suffered from diarrhea because of it. But it did not deter me from eating the same.

Way back in high school, I do eat lots of street foods. But when one of my classmate had contacted Hepatitis B, then the cravings suddenly discontinued. Based on medical findings, he got the illness from eating street foods. And because his immune system is weaker than ours, he's the first one to have it. I still eat street food occasionally never again I eat too much of it.

I still love eating street food - not just chicken, meat barbecue - but also bananacue and camote cue, peanuts, cornick, hotdog on stick, etc.
I believe some of them are cleaned and precooked prior to grilling but of course you can never tell. But nevetheless, everyone still buy and eat them despite the typical hazards - you just have to be careful or purchase it from your favorite vendor.

fishball, squidball, kikiam, kwek-kwek, calamares, taho, bbq, etc etc. i eat them all and i love them. too bad, can't even see any them now to where i'm living and i missed eating those street foods which some don't can't even take.
clean? whew, i think they're not, have you ever noticed the color of the oil they use? oh man, it's really (swallow swallow) something, but admit it, it's delicious. We need germs in our bodies, it's one way to challenge our antibodies but never overdo it or else you'll end up with some serious diseases.

No i don't like eating street foods. Some people who are selling their foods in wooden cart which is common in crowded Manila street are careless in handling food. They don't have the sanitary permit in proper handling of food. I often observed how they carelessly wash their utensils. I know some people who got hepatitis and gastrointestinal disease by eating street foods. So if i were you i will be more careful in selecting food stall. Remember health is wealth.

Hello there sir! Thanks for your response. If that is your say, what if there is an establishment that would sell street foods but not literally on the streets. And you would be assured that these street foods are clean and are well prepared, would you consider buying from that establishment, sir?
