Assembly and C Language

Can anyone point me towards some resources that would help me learn assembly and the C language, i've tried many different books and they all talk about the languages but they do a terrible job of teaching, instead they just provide code with no explanation of how to use it.

I recently started studying Assembly , after having a bit of experience with C++ OOP programming . The book I use is called Assembly Language Step by Step Programming with Linux. The author explains quite well , considering the fact that it was meant for people who didn't do a lot of coding in their lives .
