Wikipedia.com vs Wikipedia.org ?

I just realized that there was an interest called Wikipedia.com on myLot and so I joined it. But I just wanted to point out that Wikipedia.com is not the correct website - it is called Wikipedia.org whenever you go to that website, even if you type the dot com. So, why are there two interests that are actually supposed to be the same thing? Shouldn't they be merged together (like they do in Wikipedia)? Like they say, a good reason for merging is having a Duplicate – There are two or more pages on exactly the same subject and having the same scope. Then, the people who use dot-org or dot-com can all be under the interest of simply Wikipedia. Either that or make it Wikipedia.org

I think, it could possibly be the websites previous address. But either way, I still type in wikipedia.com

Well, I have done some research on what the ".com" and ".org" meant, and the first one, wikipedia.com, could not be possible because com is short for commercial websites. Wikipedia is a non-profit organization, which is what dot org stands for. So really the website "wikipedia.com" is a contradiction, because Wikipedia was not supposed to be commercial at all. . .

not just that.. I even saw Maria Sharapova and a Sharapova interest. There's really a lot of duplicates in interest. And I also find it hard to search for a specific interest so maybe that is the reason why other people choose to create a new interest,

It's true, there are many other duplicate interests. I guess it's okay because many people don't know of another existing interest. But, the thing is, for Wikipedia, the other interest is incorrect. It's not Wikipedia.com - there's no such website. It is and will only be Wikipedia.org.

I'd noticed that too. There are actually quite a few duplicate topics that are essentially the same thing. I'm not sure how we can call attention to that and get them merged. But there is no real wikipedia.com. Whenever you type wikipedia.com into your web browsers, you are forwarded to wikipedia.org. Maybe some people have been typing wikipedia.com this whole time and have not yet realized they are forwarded every time.

Yes, I have noticed that Wikipedia.com is always forwarded to Wikipedia.org. So, the true interest in myLot should be the dot-org version, but it seems that many people are instead on the dot-com version. Now it's okay if the interests don't get merged, I just want people to realize that they have been typing the wrong link all the time! Maybe they should just look at the top of their browser and see that it is actually Wikipedia.org, not Wikipedia.com!
