Even in 2007, topics were repeated!

How do I know? Okay well I don't really, but what I do know is I found an article someone wrote about mylot.com. Some of the facts there, aren't facts, or are just opinion. One thing that caught my eye, and is what I am writing about is that even in 2007 (when the article I am referring to was written) discussions on mylot were most repeats. Yes, I'm aware this one is too, BUT I'm hoping it will open other's eyes. RESEARCH, use the search feature, and keep responding on the same three year old discussion about Halloween Candy, instead of making another...
Here's the article link, tell me what you think about what the author said.

Ps. I know I'm supposed to be on a "hiatus of sorts" but I can't stay away. I still won't be here as often as I was, Okay that may be a lie.. HUSH!

Lakota12,
I do not see you around very much discussing new things! That is true! Well, it is hard to be original here with so many discussions being made, and many of them even repeats!

Hey, I got this notification! This is the first discussion notification I've gotten from you since I added you as a friend! Party time! So since I seem to miss many of your discussions, why are you supposed to take a hiatus? Now that I get your notifications I was all psyched!

Yay! Glad your getting my notifies! Hmm, well I'm just taking a hiatus of sorts for myself, just a cooling down period, but I may not do that, it all depends. Hubby and I need the money mylot supplies for us, but also we need my sanity too! ha! lol!
Well I'll see u around regardless.

Wow I would have never guessed that even back then topics would have been repeated and I guess that shows you that even back in 2007 some people would have to take other peoples ideas instead of coming up with their own, which is really sad and I looked at the article and it is kind of funny, and I always thought our country was full of mindless drones being controlled by the government and it seems like it is true or is becoming true, and I love you with all of my heart and soul.

I am surprised to begin with that this discussion stayed up as so many are discontinued for seeming mysterious reasons. The article didn't seem to have correct information on it. I think his opinion was just that- his opinion. It is almost as if he were trying to steer people away from Mylot. I haven't found that his two base comments to even be true. I would wonder if Mylot has changed that much since I became a member or if this writer really stayed on the site long enough to really get the full idea of the site and what it had to offer. I thought his article didn't hold much truth to it. I am a bit disappointed in AC as well.

Ha, I love this one: "The catch, however, was I didn't have a life." That sound suspiciously like why I spend all the time that I do on myLot (just kidding.. kind of. LOL.) I found the article to be interesting. But to be honest with you, I'd rather have someone start a totally new discussion rather than trying to revive an older discussion of the same topic. Because, sometimes people add different angles on things, the discussions are more popular than the previous one, the discussion turns in a different direction than the first, etc. I certainly don't think it's cool that we have hundreds of similar discussions here on myLot, but I don't think it's fair to expect that we're NEVER going to start the same discussion more than once. Know what I mean?

maezee,
I can see your point BUT a new angle can be brought up on an older discussion, and people can read through and comment on old responses to give their ideas or say "I agree" or say " I agree but..." you know what I mean? While a new topic is nice in some ways, it's more bothersome in others... so I say stick with the search engine, which isn't always the best.

Hehe, I suppose that'd be the same for many message boards. I'm writing on one about Lord of the Rings, and some questions always come up several times. Before the first film came out we'd have several "Who's Peter Townsend? Is he going to play Aragorn or not?" a month, long after it was confirmed that he wasn't going to play that part.

Some people just don't research, but hey I'm guilty of much the same. I preach it but don't practice it. One of these days I'm sure I'll have my foot in my mouth more times then I'd care to admit. It is easier to just discuss and not look to see if their's smiliar, but well easier isn't always fun. Yea, I'm sure many other message boards have the same.

Maybe you should call it a selective hiatus?
I no longer take issue with discussions. Some people simply pose a question (which starts to drive me nuts) and some people actually talk about something that is going on in the world or that happened to them personally and then ask for feedback. It is what it is. I prefer the latter over the former but what can you do?

Hi SomeCowgirl. Nice to see that you're taking a hiatus from your hiatus. Or is it a break from your break?
Anyway, I've also realized that discussions here are bound to be repeated over and over. If not after a few months, then definitely after a few years. That's why I've tried to add angles to my raised discussions. So that even if it's not entirely original, the range is so wide, that original and witty responses are sure to be had.

hmm. that's surprising...Now I'm wondering if the topics I've posted were posted a long long time ago....It's frustrating to think that most mylot members believed on those lies and those that they've posted are just copycats....I joined mylot recently so I'm sort of naive about it...this is a good info. to share by the way....^^
