I was raised with cats so I am very much a cat person tho I do adore our Jack Russell terrier. I just realized today that I am being trained by one of my current cats! She has a certain low meow when she wants her kitty treats. She's super active and she gets treats pretty much whenever she wants them. Our other cat, of 2, is abit overweight so we limit her treats. She also is by far the more mellow easy going, sleeps lots kinda kitty.
So into my office, strolls Cleo and she lets out this low meow and I automatically go for the treats and she happily chases them across the floor before munching them down. She loves the chase of it too. She had just a few and then with a cuddle she decided to settle down by my feet for a nap.
One of my cats who is now in Kitty Heaven had different meows for many different things. When I had her I lived alone with just her and I got to know the different meows for different things. She also owned me for almost 18 years so plenty of time to do some human training. One meow for litter box needs attention, one for food, one for cuddles, one for water etc..I thought she was a one of kind but now I have the privlidge of being trained all over again! Cleo has just turned 3 so she's ahead of the game on training me!

Rygel - the white eared cat in my avatar - has a certain meow he does we call his "worried" meow. Thursday, after Frankie went to his new home, Rygel was wandering around the house doing his "worried" meow. Enough to get the attention of the OTHER roommate who is pretty unaware of what the cats and comment on it.
Even Oliver, who learned to be a cat from Rygel - he's the kitten in my avatar, was worrying and he didn't much like Frankie.

We had Ping and Pong fixed on the same day - they are brothers - but we wanted it done because we knew Ping would freak out if he wasn't with his brother.
We told them to put them together but they didn't - a few minutes later (we had another cat with us to see the vet too) the tech came out and said - "I should've listened to you - which one had the blue collar on?"
"Ping"
"I should've listened to you!" she said as she hurried to the back again - I just know Ping was FREAKING.
He was so dependent on his brother when he was younger - they are still really close.
Also, we got Rygel and Sirius fixed at the same time, they were also brothers - obviously we still have Rygel. When they came in the next morning after they had recovered, they were carrying on so much, they put them in the same cage. They settled down for a bit then they destroyed the cage - turning everything over, dumping the water, litter, food - I said - "that was Rygel's handiwork..."

Awww///sounds like he was worried about Frankie! He likely considered himself superior to Frankie but every leader needs their followers. They do keep tabs on each other even if not the best of friends it seems.
My 2 girls are best of friends to such an extent we had them fixed the same day to make it easier on them and the vet thought they were from the same litter. Nope...one was fixed at 11 months and the other at 5 but they were both about the same size! They are so sweet to each other they wash and sleep together while we are away and play together too...tho Cleo does hog the toys since she is the queen after all..

Wow, with 4 that's very cool! I only have 2 so it's far easier. The plump one only meows for food while the other one who is the animal leader of the other cat and our dog has decided to train me to do her bidding! Uh oh...who knows what she'll come up with. She's either being a brat or she's being super cuddly...it's always an extreme with her. I'm not sure I could learn all 4 different cat's demands or requests so to speak..how clever of you!

Apparently cats are less vocal among themselves than with the Humans they adopt..We need more training to understand their wide range of body language and facial expressions,so they keep things simple for us with voice commands! My furry sidekick was with Me for just 6 Years, and He definitely had a vocabulary that I was getting used to.."Feed Me".."Let Me out".."Let Me in Again"..The one I definitely didn't like to Hear from him was "I'm gonna Hurl!",but at least I had that little bit of warning to let him get outside before he redecorated..

Oh my...thank goodness we haven't had the need for that one!! I used to have a cat that would eat super fast and that sometimes happened...yuck! I can read some of the body language but I have heard that cats are more vocal with humans than each other too! I don't mind the training as it makes life easier and more rewarding for both of us. I am kinda honored that she's decided I am worthy of her time and training! Bet ya can tell my beasts are spoiled!

I have 2 cats and I can tell instantly which one is making noise as they are so different, even tho they look almost identical. Gidget has a yowling noise she makes when she wants us to get up and get the day going, and a different sound when she feels more demanding like for food. Lola hardly makes any noise except when she is ready to leap up on the counter or do something she knows she'll get in trouble for - she makes this little crying sound just before she jumps, and it sounds so pitiful!

LOL. Lola tells on herself!! She announces I'm about to be bad but I'm going for it anyway..so cute! Gidget sounds alot like our Cleo, somewhat on the bossy side of things. She's certain that she owns us not the other way round.

Yeah my cats have different meows for different things. I picked up on them rather quickly, and I think its cute they do that. I just don't like Precious's neverus meow. He's been doing that a lot lately due in large no doubt the tension that's esculated in the household.

They are very sensitive creatures and I adore my cats in a very different way from how much I love our dog. I never thought of myself as a dog person but my beloved wanted a dog so much that we decided to try and see if one of our cats, Delilah who had a great fear of dogs would accept a puppy. And tho she was nervous for the first few days, she soon decided she was her mom and bathed her face and from then on they have been great friends.
It is amazing how much they pick up on from our emotions. The cats always know when I am upset, more than our dog does and do come and offer comfort. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful group of furry family members, each with such different personalities!
Now that the ring leadeer, Ms Cleo has begun the training, it will be very interesting to see if Delilah decides to add her own meows to the mix. She's such a laid back cat now that the only thing that she ever really wants is food or cuddles. She will jump on my hip when I am standing in the kitchen and demand a cuddle every night when I am making dinner. I have to be ready for it since she weights just over 10 pounds.
Just a quick cuddle and she's happy again to sit on the floor mat and keep me company. We feed them when I serve us so she knows that her dinner is on the way.
