God is not a genie!!

i don't visit temples or worship places too much.i dont believe that god exists within the walls of a worship place.but i get dragged into temples but my mother sometimes.
so everytime ive been into one i have seen people muttering things like, God, please make me win this lottery,please make me rich, please pass me in exams, blah blah blah.
and i bet many others do the same. what i would like to say on this is god is not a genie! does any of us here go to worship places just to acknowledge god and not to ask for favors?

Hi wizteen,
Yah you are right at some point. People think of going to the church, temple or any other place of worship just to ask for favors from God. It is good to ask for help from him, but to be always asking without thanking him for all his blessings, and asking forgiveness from our sins is an act of selfishness. Sometimes we must learn to appreciate and to give before we ask. God is really not a ginnie to make our desires into reality through magic. God knows who are those deserving to receive.
