Do you stand, when you hear your National Anthem being played?

Hey Coolcat! Yes I do stand when I hear the national anthem. If I am unable to stand I pause what Im doing. I have even pulled over. Especially when it was right after 9/11. I think after that everyone became a little more patriotic. I love my country because its where I was born and raised. I think at this point its safe to say that we need more people to love their country so we can get it together. All the litter, hatred, and just unnecessary things people do to each other have to stop. You cant be patriotic and disrespect other citizens. Its not okay. dl

Yes, I do. I stand in attention whenever I hear my national anthem. That is a way to show that we respect our country. Most of the meetings arranged by government or any other social angency or sometimes even church meetings will end with a national anthem. All the schools and colleges will end their day with students singing nationation anthem being in attention position.

Yes, I am in the U.K. and I always stand with the national anthem, but these days, I don't hear it so much as I did when I was a kid. I never really thought about how patriotic I was, it was just something that everybody did. I love living in my country but I think that would be true if I had been born in a different country. Hi coolcat, We have been taught in school to stand in an attention position when you hear the National Anthem. In School everyday morning and evening students sing the national anthem. I think all people will stand and stay calm when hearing the national anthem. Most of the time, we are hearing the same in a meeting or function, so we should do it. But if I am doing some work at home and I am hearing the same from TV I may not give much attention and I may continue my work by listening it. It does not mean that I am not patriotic. I respect my country and respect the National Anthem.

Yes, I do. Whenever the national anthem is being played I do stand in attention. Well most formal gatherings in our area usually starts with the invocation and then followed by the national anthem. So we always remain standing after the invocation considering that what follows is the national anthem.

We are trained like that from the school days.So,I will stand in attention if I happened to be in a place where my national anthem is singing.Even I will sing along and I am always proud to do that.But I don't think this is the only quality to show our patriotism.

When I hear national anthem being played I stop as a respect. When we are in a ceremony we stand as a respect until the song finished. Mostly before starting work for a day, some government establishments and school sing National Anthem. They are being patriotic. Actually when the song is playing sometimes we raised our hands and placed it on the left side of our chest, meaning we are singing the song by hear, I don't usually do it, when i am in the ceremony, sometimes i forget. I am not that patriotic.

I have too much respect and am patriotic too...but for national anthem...i don't always get up...it was necessary in schools etc..as at that time they teach us the values and try to turn us into a good citizen and successfully my teachers and elders have done it...now i know that i should respect my anthem and have some responsibilities towards my country...so its not necessary that i show it just by standing up..there are other ways to show my duty towards nation...

i did stand and stop whatever i'm doing when i was still a student and at school. now, i only hear our national anthem plays on tv. i never stand, i just watch the singer sings and hope he/she makes a mistake xD

Yes, I do stand up when my National Anthem is played, whether it was in my school or college or whether on the TV . In fact, around 1.5 months back, when we had gone to watch the Hindi Movie : "De Dana Dan", the national anthem was being played before the film started as a salute to the Siachin Glacier soldiers.
