Does Your Partner Leave The Toilet Seat Up?

I don't really know why this annoys me...but it does! Hubby will go for a wee and you can guarantee the toilet seat is up for when I next go into the bathroom. I keep mentioning it to him (in a nice way) but he carries on doing it. He's the same with his dumping of clothes onto the floor. Sometimes I can't tell which ones are clean and which ones aren't! Having said all that, though, I've never known him make a mess in the toilet itself (I know, amazing isn't it) but whenever I see the toilet seat up I dunno...I wanna strangle him lol. How about you? Does your partner have some strange ways you cannot change?

This is what happening when you have man in the house. However, when you tell him, thet based on Feng shui, his money are going to go down to drain-he may remember to close the seat. This is what happened to my roommate, he used to leave it up all the time till one day when his own Mather told him about Feng shui law. Now he can remember to leave it down and also to close the bathroom door.

Yes, I had heard about Feng Shui lol. Is it true that the bed is supposed to face the window? I much prefer it when this is the case, I get stressed when it's somewhere else in the room.

Bed can not face the door, other directions are fine.

Hello Janey, Sorry your husband is hard of hearing lol. I actually have a solution for you. They sell toilet seats that automatically fall back down......so he wouldnt have to do anything, it would slide right back down for when you need to use it. No more fights. As for the clothes on the floor, they say to gather everything up, put it in a box and hide the box. Eventually your husband will wonder where all his clothes are and then you take the box out and tell him that you were going to throw it all away since it looked like garbage on the floor. Tell him, from now on, everything that you find on the floor will go in this box and out the door. Now, 2 things can happen with this. A) he wont care and you'll be "pretending" to throw clothes away, or money or whatever you find. B) he might get angry with you. This "box" method was suggested by a psychologist, so not sure if it works or not. My husband doesnt let anything lying around. He knows that when I start to clean, sometimes I put away things and dont remember where I stored them lol.....you could try that method also lol.

Thanks for your tips, it's most welcome! In actual fact the problem with the clothes has now been resolved as he now has to wear a "school uniform" (as he puts it) for work, which includes 3 tops, a fleece and a sweater. His jeans are OK. It is bliss not seeing tops all over the place lol. He doesn't really like wearing a uniform but it's brilliant for me!!

No, she doesn't leave it up. She told me that there is a belief, that if you leave the seat up, your money will disappear. I am not into these beliefs really, but it's the good thing she doesn't leave the seat up

Haha! I like it. I haven't got any money to lose so it doesn't apply to me!

My boyfriend sometimes leaves the toilet seat up too. It's not a habit that he has often, so when he does I tend to think that he just forgot. Apart from that I can't think of more strange things.

Thanks for your response my friend. Yes, I do think my John does leave the seat up "by accident" as he's not the type to do it just to annoy me. Still annoying though hehe lol.

Hi Janey1966, Ha ha ...... Fortunately, I do not have such a problem. The seats are always down in my toilet after using. Moreover, my husband are trained to sit down when wee wee. Man can sit down to wee wee. It is a good habit when being at home. Therefore, it won't give a smell as the urine won't scattered everywhere outside the toilet bowl. He feels comfortable with it, as it is his home, too. That is why we do not like to have guests coming to our home. We do not want a smelly toilet. If there is any gathering, it must will be held at a restaurant. Lesser work!!! LOL Have a good day! agonyaunt69 (3:45pm 20 Jan 2010, Hong Kong time)

That is a very good idea about the restaurant lol. We have someone who comes round to watch Sky Sports if Carlisle United are on telly (which, thankfully, isn't all that often) and he leaves the seat DOWN and wees all over that! I mean, how disgusting is that lol.

Hi Janey! That can indeed be annoying especially if you are living with that person forever. It can really make your blood boil. Fortunately, I do not have a partner yet but when the time comes, I'd probably divorce him for being so hard-headed and for always trying my patience.

He's really sweet most of the time...and he did live here on his own for about 3 years before I came along. Another annoying habit of his; I place all the ironed, folded clothes into his own wardrobe all nice and neat. The next minute he's got all the tops and jeans, etc, he wants to wear (for the week, it seems to me) on a table so he can see them! I've told him many times that the table will "go in a skip along with all your other cr*p" then he'll have to use the wardrobe!! I can't wait for that day my friend!

My husband is the same way with leaving the toilet seat up and I mention it to him yes and he still does it. Another thing when he goes pee, just pee thank God, he will not flush the toilet. I always mention it to him please please flush the toilet I don't want to see what you went and did in the bathroom. And we being as women we sit on the seat to go to the bathroom and I have fear of whatever he did splashing on me . Seriously or me falling in the toilet because he didn't put the seat down. But he continiously does it. Then another thing he does is he leaves the bathroom sink all wet and never cleans up after himself after shaving and brushing his teeth. So when I go in to brush my teeth or whatever, my clothes gets all wet.

Don't get me started on our sink and the state hubby leaves it in...mainly toothpaste. I can't understand why there's so much of it. Never a trace of it when I brush my teeth. It's all very odd!

I can't say my Kitty has any strange things I'd want to change. Nothing like that. Hehe. She sure does have a lot of things about me that annoy her though.. Things I try to change. Nothing like leaving laundry everywhere or leaving the toilet seat up, but still. You know, if it really bothers you, you could look into getting a toilet with an automated seat. When you flush it, the seat automatically goes down. It's quite clever. I don't know any places you can get one, but they have 'em.

LOL. I know the toilet you mean but...at least he doesn't leave the seat DOWN when he does his wee, now that would wind me up even more haha!
