I have put together and gone to a few tea parties. And the whole point was to have grassroots everyday poeple there working together. I know I can't afford a $549 per person convention. But I look at it this way...I do what I can...when I can...and don't worry about the rest. There will be some who can afford it. Some who can't but there seems to be plenty of events to accomidate both.
I do worry about some of the organizations getting closer ties to the GOP. Most tea party goers I know are mad at both parties and DO NOT call themselves Republicans or Democrats They are fed up with both.

I'll lay odds this is that damn tea party express group behind this...FARKING hijackers...ARGH! This is controlled oposition thats what this is, controlled oposition. Well, fortuneatly most of us aren't stupid enough to fall for it...however for the benefit of those whoa are, this NEEDS to get out there. I knew right from the beginning this would get hijacked, it had to be. there was no way those rat bastardd republicans were going to let anyone steal their thunder (as if they had any) so they jumped on this band wagon, got behind a commercial group that latched on to OUR movement and here we are now....with them trying to drag us right back in to the national establishment party system this movement was built to fight against.

The Tea party movement is and will always be a grass roots movement. I do not care what some organization wants the Tea party movement to be, it will always be what I wanted it to be me and it was about you. All of these GOPers that think this movement is just to get them reelected can go drown in a river.

Many Conventions cost less because they depend upon donations from corporations (special interest groups) to off set the costs. By charging the individuals the full cost of renting the Conference Center and the meals they remain an independent group.

I heard about this a few weeks ago. I understand it's $549 for the convention and $349 if you only wish to attend Sarah Palin's speech, for which she's reportedly being paid $75,000-100,000. Republican Representatives Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee are also speaking but I don't know if they're getting paid or not, or even if it's legal for them to be compensated for speaking. This convention is being run by the Tea Party Nation.
