Are You Having A Problem Posting? Tell Me About It!

For those of you who are having problems posting, I need details. Even if you've already told me, tell me again.
I'm talking about when you go to post and you think everything's going okay, and then suddenly you are taken back to where you were before and your post is nowhere to be found - or your post shows up twice (or even three times!). We're trying to figure out why this is happening to so many people but isn't for others. The best way to do that is to figure out what the trends are and what you have in common.
If you are experiencing these problems, I need to know:
1. What browser and browser version are you using?
2. How do you connect to the Internet? Do you use dial-up, DSL, cable, T1, or some other method?
3. Do you know whether you have this trouble when discussions are in specific interest categories? If so, which ones?
4. Is it when you are posting responses, comments, or discussions? Or doesn't it seem to matter?
5. Is there anything else you think might be worth sharing related to this topic?
For those who have NEVER experienced this problem and are always able to post successfully, I'd love to know your answers to the first 2 questions too.

Hiya! Nice to see you again. Reminds me of your previous discussions that I havent been able to respond to yet.
That kind of thing has happened to me a few times, both in the public myLot boards and the private messages. In the public boards I would normally type all that I think and thankfully now I can copy and paste so that when the post didnt go through I can always just paste the same thing and not have to start over again. That was not the case when I first started since I couldnt copy and paste yet and that was when I was brimming full of ideas that it would take me more than 4 good paragraphs just to respond to one discussion. I just pray back then that my post will be published, else Id have to try and start over again.
I think that the posting problem (in the myLot public)is because of my internet connection. I also observed that when the title in the tab already says "Tag this discussion" but the page is still loading, it would mean that my response has been posted. But thinking that it wasnt yet so Id refresh the page, after submitting the tags, Id see double or even a triple post. Having observed that, whenever the page is slow to load, Id watch out for the title if it says "Tag..", then Id open another tab, copy/paste the discussion URL, then check if my post has gone through. Usually, it already is so I just close the slow loading page.
Another incident is the "switcheroo". Posting responses in multiple tabs sometimes exchanges the responses. There has been an incident where one of my switched response seemed very inappropriate with the discussion topic that I asked for it to be removed.
One of my frustrations is posting in Private messages. There are times that when I have already added the tags and submit the response, it would bring me to my messages page, making me think that it was already posted. But checking the username of the last responder, it shows that it wasnt me, meaning my message wasnt posted. Sure enough when I check the message thread, my post isnt there so Id have to post again. There have been times that Id try more than 3 times cause the message just wont go through. There were also times when after hitting the submit message button, the page would just be looped/refreshed to my myLot homepage.
I think that's about the occasional posting issue that Id get when myLotting. I use the latest version of Firefox and I connect through Cable. I dont think the posting issue is specific to an Interest Category. This usually happens in posting responses, a few times in comments and a rare occasion for newly created discussions, a different matter on private messages though.
Hope my post helped somehow. Looking forward to a better posting experience.

Hello alice, this is my big problem lately. I was wondering how this is happen when in fact i am not experiencing this before, ever since i joined here.
The problem goes like this;
After I sign in, i posted a reply but when i submitted it..it won't go in instead, there's a note below (red letters), "you have to be descriptive and blah blah blah.."I was wondering how could this be? I mean, I've been doing this always and why they asking me all these?
In order to post my reply i have to sign back again so I could use the mylot code, since it's all gone also (the mylot code).
After signing back for the second time...all my posted reply were already gone..
OMG it is so annoying and frustrating...
By the way I am using latest version of Firefox...
Thanks I hope this could be solved because it is so really frustrating knowing that all hard-think replies would all be gone after signing back in...
Thanks a lot alice..

mobhomeir, when you received the message that you have to be descriptive were you trying to upload a photo with a response?

The only issue I had, is that it seemed like my responses disappeared after I posted them, or that it would show me the preview and would not go past that screen where you would be able to tag the discussion. I haven't had that problem today though.

I never have any problem in posting discussions, responses or comments. The only problem I meet is that sometimes the speed of login is too slow. I have to wait a long time to login.

Hi Bluestream!
Does it seem to be the actual logging in, or are you waiting for the sorties to load?

myLot is very slow to respond today and there have been a few discussions that I have been unable to respond to even after trying several times. I then tried to send a private message to user puppynut about a question on html, but the message would not go either. I am just making one more try on the site before leaving the site, having run out of time, to see if I can send you the message. - Derek

I am not really sure whether the browser is related to the posting problem. In my office, I used the IE6 and sometimes that the comments could not connect to the post, I think it caused by the network broken. Now I used the IE8 at home, it seems that the network broken phenomenon seldom appeared. I am not sure if it is more of luck at home.

Yes. Sometime I see my post double. And I want to give you a suggestion, If we have respond in one discussion, please disable the "respond this discussion" button. Sometime we forget if we have responded it.

I'm a newbie and having problems posting. At first I used RobtheRoc instead of RobtheRock, so I understand my problem there. But when I signed in as RobtheRock, I still had problems.
1. I was using AOL 9.1 .
2. I use Broadband. AT&T.
3. My troubles seemed to be in the "what browser do you favor" and the html discussion.
4. It is when I am posting responses.
Although I don't see any mention of my posting on the "what browser do you favor" discussion, I think the person who posted the question asked me to be a friend. I'm presently using Internet Explorer 7. It was a real hassle typing my responses over again because I couldn't paste it onto the site.

I only had this problem of duplicate posting once during Xmas day, that's on 25th of December, last year. I just know that when i press the post button, it didn't refresh and post my comment. Instead, it jammed there and i thought i haven't posted it, so i press 3 times and resulted my comment being posted 3 times....
I am using DSL and using Mozilla Firefox version 3.5 as my browser. So far, now i haven't experience any problem like this anymore.
