The Great Merrijawana Conspiracy - Why Hemp Is Really Illegal

I came across this when I was browsing the other day, and whereas I don't smoke it now, I did partake when I was younger, though I never progressed to anything stronger. If I were ill, and it helped with the pain, I'd like the opportunity to use hemp, and if what this article says is true, there isn't really a reason for it to be illegal, other than to allow rich oil barons to make even more money. The article details the numerous uses for hemp, or marijuana, which would be kinder to the planet, and an awful more cost effective than using the materials we use now. This amazing little plant can be used to make paper, rope, clothing, paints and varnishes, and Fords first car was run on hemp gasoline, and it had "hemp plastic" panels, which the article states were 10 times stronger than steel!!! An entire harvest can be grown in one season, whereas it takes years for trees to grow to replace those cut down, and hemp cultivation causes less pollution. Hemp seeds also contain "one of the highest sources of protein in nature" But legalising and cultivating hemp for these purposes would mean that oil was no longer used for any of these things, and the article details that this is why it has been demonised by demand from people who have become billionnaires drilling for oil. I know through personal experience that it does not instantly turn people into murderers, and it certainly is not more deadly than heroin, which is one of the things the government stated to turn people off hemp in the thirties. I'd love to know what other people think of this. The article can be found here: http://www.tpuc.org/content/marijuana-conspiracy

Hi, Fifileigh. Apparently, it was used to make a lot of clothing products, whereas now maybe there are some companies which make environmentally friendly bags - I've got a couple of those - but that's about it, and I think they have to be really careful about their growing and cultivation of the plant. I use hemp seeds and hemp seed oil as well, the benefits are supposed to be amazing.

interesting and could well be something in it. anything that will annoy powerful lobbies (in this case oil and pharmacetical) doesn't have much chance really.

Hi, Jb. No, you're right. It's kind of an indication of the world we live in today - we don't do things for the best, we do things we're conned into doing to make rich men richer. Hi, Enemy of Empire. Thanks for that - there are so many conflicting pieces of info out there, it's handy to have clarification on things. But awwwww, I'm disappointed! Lol! I was invisioning a world full of hemp built cars, running on hemp gasoline! Mind you, I think it's the possibility of an alternative gas that would really tick off the powers that be.
