THE MYTH: DUPLICATE DISCUSSIONS WILL BE DELETED
Yesterday, I was reading over some older discussions and the question was asked, "Why was my discussion deleted? I violated none of the guidelines, I just wanted to ask people about their New Year"
To which another member replied, "It's because that's a duplicate discussion, as there were many discussions of people talking about New Years"
So I thought, that makes sense, we don't need the same discussions over and over.
But I also recall seeing numerous repeat discussions on topics such as pizza toppings or favorite genre of music.
Of course I ignore those type of discussions because they don't interest me, so as far as I knew maybe those duplicates did get deleted.
THE INVESTIGATION:
Well today I was cruising the halls of myLot and I see a picture of Nickelback floating by.......I like Nickelback, it is one of my interests, so I went in to see what juicy Nickelback gossip I could dig up...........I was shocked by what I found....
THE EVIDENCE:

CONCLUSION:
The myth that duplicate discussions will be deleted........B U S T E D!!! (if you're a fan a Canadian rock music anyways)
RECOMMENDATION:
myLot does many things for many reasons and they don't always tell us why.........it is their site after all.......their house, their rules.
If you for some unknown reason have a discussion deleted, MOVE ON.....start 2 discussions to replace it.......GET OVER IT it's not the end of civilization!
You're not a real myLotter until you've had a discussion or 2 deleted...........or 3 or 4 or 7.
How many discussions about deleted discussions have you seen deleted???

Good grief sconibear, have you only just discovered that. Now take any typical boring word, I will give you as an example - (no I won't actually as I think I might have answered 20 in a row with sarcastic answers) so I'll give you another word -(no hang on I was feeling really evil when I did that list of 20), so any innocous word will do, skirts, trousers, cookers, and you'll see almost as many discussions made (I presume - it worked on the ones I did) as pizza or ice cream.
If my secret word discussions are found please note I was suffering from dental trauma at the time.

the person who now has over 11,000 posts is probably banned...
When I started Mylot in 2006, you wouldn't believe how many rubbish posts we could see. I used to laugh every day just by reading....mom was deleted...

WOW! I wonder if that's some kind of myLot record. 
It's funny they only have 2 posts and they're both responded to by the same person who now has over 11,000 posts which makes me wonder if the responder isn't actually the original poster who got tired of seeing their 2 discussions with no responses so dumped their original account and started a new one just to respond to their original discussions.
........yeah........I have a headache too.

Those examples weren't exact duplicates ( cut & pasted )that's why they weren't deleted. They don't want.

I like the second last sentence you mentioned... you are not a real mylotter until a discussion or 2 and more have been deleted! LOL. I could relate to that, although it was just 1. I really hope I'm a true blue mylotter, hmmmp, that would be nice. Actually you are right, a discussion about discussions deleted don't really have a long life span..

They always go. Yours shouldn't have gone that day when it did as it was the first of many and I came well after you but got to stay up. Mind you I knew nothing about the others but then I did start to spot the other 380 on the same subject. Oh well. Where's goran?

What???? Well I am a true MyLotter who has had some discussions deleted.
But I also knew there wasn't any reason to ask why because we never get an answer.
I don't think there is anything left to discuss that hasn't been done before. We have covered everything that could be thought of, or am I missing something like fungus on our pizza???? Or the truth about Global Warming???
I did learn something from this discussion and that was the answer to "Just who or what in the heck is Nickleback"...Thanks for the information. It's more crap for my old brain to absorb, but who knows it may come in handy on some quiz show. I think the rule for deletion of duplicate discussions got busted a long time ago.

This is a wonderful discussion you have started sconibear. As you have rightly mentioned, mylot does many things for many reasons, and they do not tell us why.Yes if you want to stay in mylot just grin and bear it when your discussion is deleted.Let me add another couple of discussions, which are quite regular.
What is the browser you are Using.
Which browser do you find better, IE or Fire Fox
What is your favorite Cell phone,
and finally a few hundred questions on Avatar, the movie.
Who knows whether even this discussion might be deleted.

Actually...Bear...I never had a discussion deleted on me and I've been here over 3yrs. now. Even the few downright stupid nonsense ones I started are still there.

have seen in a very long time! I'm not really sure what it is
really about! Is is about deleted discussions? Or is it about

I think ham's more of a salmon color........and salmon's more of an orange/red color.......yeah........I don't know what that has to do with anything either.

lol i love this! i know i have heard before it depends on how similar the body of the discussion are but yet when it was messing up on me and duplicated one of my discussions awhile back i asked them to delete the extra one and its still around.. i think the trolls decide sometimes

This discussion is pretty amusing.:-) My post regarding payment was deleted and it took them 2 days (if my memory serves me right) to do that. It garnered almost over a hundred responses. And here's what, after that I noticed that my earnings are continuously dropping day by day. I don't understand why but,I've seen in other discussions that this thing do happened to other mylotters, too.:-)
Now, I am a real Mylotter, just like you said.
