I watched Sherlock Holmes last night and it's a jolly fun experience. It hooked me up from the start where Sherlock (played by superb Robert Downey who just got his Golden Globe for playing this role) and his counterpart Dr. Watson (Jude law) arrest Lord Blackwood, a powerful person who use black magic to kill his victims and hang to death. It turn out the lord escape the death sentence and back from the graveyard to haunt London, which at the time still believe in dark arts and magic. It's a great detective story mix with Guy Ritchie usual movie, full of high octane fight and violence. Very fast paced than what I expected to be but also showcase a great resemble of acting from the duo, the villain, and rachel McAdams as Holmes's woman interest. So, anybody see this movie? Agree or disagree with my opinion?

I saw the movie a couple of days ago and yes, I loved it. It was quite different from the usual Sherlock Holmes we are so used to. Unlike the books, the movie is very fast paced and full of action. But among all this Guy Ritchie has not forgotten about Holmes's observation and deduction skills. That is why this movie does not become another Secret Agent movie, but is a Holmes me to the very core.
Acting of course was top notch, but given the cast I hardly expected otherwise. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have always been good actors and they have done a great job.

I agree completely with the comments. Downey is perfect for Holmes, and Jude law is on the spot with Watson character who is more reserved like an English gentleman. I also like the villain, he look like someone who do all things for power. I love rachel macadams, she is very selective on choosing her roles since Notebook, and that is a sign of a great actress I hope she become in the next few years..

I saw it towards when it first came out and loved it ! I thought they did a really good job creating the storyline and that the actors did a really good job portraying the characters . I also thought that the soundtrack they used for the movie was perfectly matched with what was actually happening in the movie .

I won't disagree with you, the movie got me hooked as well from the start! It's pretty riveting, and I am usually very critical when comes to a movie adaptation's faithfulness to the book, but I actually liked this movie. The fight scenes are really awesome, I'm sure Guy Richie had a blast filming them, and Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law made a great team playing Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson!

I haven't gotten to see it yet, but based on what I've heard from a lot of my friends, I do want to see it. One of my friends was saying that there are several homosexual undertones in the movie and that is the one thing that I'm not thrilled about with it. Since you've already seen it, do you think that there are a lot of homosexual undertones in it? On this I am just looking for another opinion to see what they think.

Homosexuals undertones? I think your friend may misunderstood the bromance between Sherlock and Watson. In the movie, Holmes clearly need a counterpart to do his investigation and also in his daily life. He vey used of having watson taking care of him and when Watson wanted to move to another place and marrying his fiance, he always have a way to pull watson back to his life. As for romance, these two have their own love interest, Watson with Mary and Holmes with a top notch female thief played by Rachel MacAdams.

Yeah, I think it's different from the likes of Transformers, Avatar, or Terminator Salvation which were last year's box office. It's just a fun movie with fast pace fighting, fast story, and really good original score. It's like classic story but told with modern approach. You should definitely watch it. Thanks for the response

Its a great movie, I am also a big fan of the TV series House which is a modern twist on the world of Sherlock Holmes. I think it very ironic that a British actor plays the Americanized modern day version, while an American plays Holmes, but Robert Downey Jr. is just the bomb in this. I don't think I could imagine anyone better.
I realize alot of people don't watch House and understand the connection, but if you like the Holmes mythos you may want to check out House. Its about a Dr. who solves unusual cases (hmmm...) named Gregory House (Holmes) with the constant being he only has one true friend, a fellow Dr. named Wilson. (Watson) Theres alot of other parallels, like house is almost killed by a man whose last name is Moriarty and check out the addresses of both men. Very cool stuff indeed.
