Do I?? Yes I certainly use lot of terms while speaking to everybody. It impresses them. That is what 99% of us do.It's our weakness because of communication complex. If the tech people care to or they are given the opportunity to mix up or they are molded into mixing with normal human being read non tech people, they certainly can use normal language. And use of tech terms are embedded into their teachings or educational upbringing. If only the system can let them learn things in normal laymen's language, things shall be easier for the tech people & shall save them some contempt.

i actually end up using quite a lot of technical jargon in the beginning of a conversation... this is because they seem to be normal to me.. as i am well versed with them and having a peer group which understands them.. it gets difficult to convey the idea initially... but when i see the reactions on the faces, i try and speak in a term that is easy to understand.....

Being in the IT industry, everyday I have no choice but talk jargon with my counterpart. This has been the way we communicate for many years. I believe it is the same in every industry. We use jargons as this is a protocol widely understood by people in the same industry. On the other hand, when explaining technical stuff to a layman, I won't want to confuse him by using jargons. I like to draw analogies - use something which most people are familiar with, to present my views.
