Techno or Dance?

When someone asks me wat kinda music I like, I say techno... then they will usually ask who I like and I will say I like Infected Mushrooms, ATB, Basshunter, DJ S3RL, Benny Benassi, Darude, DJ Caffeine, DJ Inphinity, DJ Keoki, DJ Tiesto, and other people like that. Then if they are into tha same kind of music they will tell me that it isn't techno, it's dance music. I don't know tha difference, but either way I like it. Does anybody know tha difference between techno and dance? And if you do know, which do you like?

Infected mushrroms!? too cool! I'll tell ya why in a minute...first though..I can't stand techno myself. I am more a rock fan actually, love progressive especialy. Now, why did I get so worked up over infected mushrooms? Because the prject is actually frm the keyboard player of my all time favorite progressive rock bands, probably my favorite band period, "Dream theater". Jordan rudess is an amazingly gifted keyboard player and if all you are listening to from him is the infected mushroom project you are truly missing out on some great music.
