Does anyone remember this older reality show? It was kind of interesting in that people had to face different common fears throughout the episode for a chance to win money. I started thinking about it last night and decided it would be fun to think about the eating part of it. Every week they would make the contestants eat something strange and disgusting as one of the challenges.
So, what is the one thing that $50,000 would not be enough money to convince you to eat? Why is it?
I can't wait to see everyone's answers.

I loved watching that show ever since it came out! It's funny but stomach turning to see people eat disgusting things or be in places they would rather not be. For $50,000 , it won't convince me to eat bedbugs or other roach types. For some reason, roaches creep me out... It's like they're indestructable to anything except your foot, roach spray, and etc. Happy Mylotting!

Roaches are absolutely disgusting. I think that I would definitely have a hard time getting them down, but I need the money, so I am at least going to try it.

So is this to say that you would attempt some of the other disgusting things that they could offer like brains and such?

That was mine and my husband's favorite show. We used to watch it all the time. We always made sure that we were home or around to watch the show. And it was very interesting to see what people did and ate on that show. Although, I think that I could never catch me eating any of that stuff. But I guess, there would only be a few things that I would not eat for $50,000 and that would be roaches and spiders and I don't think that I can be put in a tub full of rats or roaches. Ugh and ew.

It was a favorite show of our family as well. I really liked the fact that not only did the contestants have to eat disgusting things, they really had to come face to face with fears that a lot of people have in their lives. For example, my sister would give up the prize if there was anything that she would have to do that dealt with heights.

Yes! I remembered and as much as I hate the show, I loved watching how the contestants braved through those challenges to win the ultimate reward. But for me, a pool of snakes can make me give up the cash because since young, that's my BIGGEST fear of all. And in almost every episodes, I would see the contestants challenging a round of the snakes.

There were a lot of snakes, spiders and roaches in that show and those are the three things that I am the most afraid of. However, I don't think anything would make me give up the aspect of the prize.

Oh my God, I would definetly eat whatever they gave me because I have quite a strong stomache. Fot 50000 dollars I would eat almost anything . I can't think of something to make me so sick so I can't eat. I would just do it without thinking to much about it.

I believe that I would be very much the same way. There are certain things that turn my stomach, but I think I would be okay if I could get it down quick enough.

yes, i do remember this show. i used to watch it on AXN channel here in the philippines. we also had Pinoy Fear Factor, all contestents were Filipino though the setting was in Argentina. It was really a hit during those times. I love the physical challenges than the eating part. haha!!

I thought the challenges where the contestants had to truly face their fears were the better challenges, but it was interesting to think about eating as a sort of fear as well.

My husband loved that show. I wonder why it went under. I know there is no way that I would have eaten that stuff to get that money. My husband claimed he could, but he cannot even brush his teeth without gagging. I just could not see it.

Another person that is thinking like me. The thought of eating something like this disgusts me, but I would be willing to do anything that is legal for the chance to win 50,000.

hi dorannmwin with me it would be cockroaches, worms, and scorpions, those I could not eat even for 50,000 dollars.
sorry to miss that much money but I would be heaving and gagging
and nope could not get them down at all. wow, even the thought
makes me queasy a bit. course the fact I have stomach flu might
have something to do with that. lol.

You are right, the stomach flu doesn't help at all with your queasy feeling, but you are also right in saying that all of those things that you've mentioned would be difficult if not impossible to get down your throat.

No way I could eat some of the stuff the contestants on that show had to eat! I watched it when it first come out and I have a pretty strong stomach but the last episode almost made me sick. I was actually gagging! It might have been because the girl on the show was gagging but my goodness that was a nasty show..lol. I wouldn't do it.

Yes, I also gagged while I was watching some of the episodes, it was especially difficult when the contestants were gagging while they were trying to eat whatever goodie was put in front of them.

ANYTHING involving genitals on an animal freaks me out, or the eyes. BUT I could REALLLLLLY use that money, would change my life. So, I would eat or do anything I had to. There is probably nothing you could put in my face or ask me to do that I would decline with that kind of money on the line, no way no how. :)
I remember that show and I used to love watching it all the time. It was crazy some of the food they used to eat. I loved watching all of the womens reaction to bugs and worms :D
Great discussion. Very interesting!

You and I are in very much the same boat. I would try to eat anything that they put in front of me because that money would be a huge blessing to our family. I can't say that it would really change our lives, but it would definitely give us a lot more wiggle room.

Fear factor contestants are daring and I love their courage to eat or take such challenge which all of those are a big No to mehh.
The winner deserves the prize!

I think you are right, the people that were able to face their fears surely did deserve the prizes that they won.

Yah, I do remember the show! My hubby and I talk about Fear Factor at times - yah, I can't believe some of the things they made these people do! Hmmm . . . $50,000? Well, I think on the show, they wouldn't give these people anything that would harm them (or at least I would think) . . . so if I were guaranteed the money, I think I would just about eat any animal body part. If a few bites and swallowing will get rid of the rest of our debt, heck, hand me the plate - ha ha. However, I will NOT eat anything human nor any poop.

You and I think alike. I too would eat almost anything for the money. That would be enough money to wipe out all of our debt except for our house and also the majority of our mortgage as well. It would change our lives for the better.

Great point there, and yes, I really enjoyed the show as well.
