How many of you have had a significant life experience that changed you greatly?

For me, this happened when I was 18. I had just gotten a new motorcycle. A crotch rocket. I was doing well in my job as a mechanic and felt I was going somewhere good. But unfortunately, that changed for the worst. I ended up getting into a motorcycle accident at 55 mph because of road work that wasn't marked and there were no warnings about it. I lost my job because of the crash as well. This greatly changed my outlook on life. Not to the tune that I figured nothing will ever go right for me or that I was a failure in life. Instead, it made me think, what can I do for myself to reach my ultimate goals? I ended up finding out that you have to work really really hard for what you want, no matter how many speed bumps get in the way, you cannot give up. What about you guys?
