Handgun Caliber

What caliber handgun are you more comfortable shooting for home defense or recreation? do you like having a smaller caliber for increased fire rate and control or a larger caliber for stopping power along with need to only land one or two shots? Personally I prefer a 1911 .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol. Just curious to everyone's taste.

I prefer to have more control. I like a .38 and I always prefer a revolver to an automatic.

I have 9mm ruger p85 I carry with me all the time. I do have .50 cal desert eagle in the house but I only fired it twice since I had it at a target practice.
