Nowadays, many people in non-English speaking countries are studying hard to make their English good because English is one of the international languages. So, if you are a native English speaker, what's your suggestion? And if you are not a native speaker, what's your suggestion and how do you learn English?

Hi! I'm no teacher of English but I am an Englishwoman (in England, lol) who has been told that I write good English and my grammar tends to be good, so if you want to learn all about the English Language then follow me on this site. Please, do not think that I want you to read everything I type..that would be unfair...but it would give you an insight into what the English Language is all about if you read some of my responses (as an example). You will realise very quickly that some of the American spellings are different to the English...on here I can think of "favourite" as an example, the Americans spell it "favorite." That is not to say they are no good at English; far from it. Their education must be really good! I was lucky in that I went to school in the 1970s and 1980s when spelling was a topmost priority...it isn't now.

Thank you...and hopefully you will learn something along the way! If you ever see anything you don't understand (and that goes for anyone else you choose to follow) don't be afraid to ask, OK?

:) Yeah, I agree with you. Watching English movies, reading English novels, and listening English songs help foreigners study English. And if you want to speak English well, you also need to pay attention to your pronunciation.

hello, banban! i'm a non-native english speaker but i love using the language. here are some ways on how to learn english: 1. exposure: i was exposed to english since i was young so i haven't had much difficulty in learning. exposure is vague so that means you have to expose yourself to english by ALL MEANS. 2. listening: practice listening is very important. i used to sing english songs with horrible lyrics. i just sing similar to the sounds but it was actually so wrong of me. it was funny but it helped me. comprehension isn't very important for a starter. just try to listen and get used to the listening material. 3. reading: read a variety of reading materials but go for the easy ones first. if you can, note down new words that you hear or read each day. you can read aloud if you want to. that helps. 4. writing: if you're diligent enough, keep an english diary. don't focus more on the grammar. what matters most is you know how to express yourself in writing. if you write english well, you're likely to speak well, too. 5. WILL: your will to improve your english is your best motivation. NEVER BE ASHAMED if you make mistakes in reading, speaking or writing. Making mistakes is good because you learn from it each time. thus, it will make you remember the right way of saying things, grammar and others. set a goal and work hard to achieve it. 6. practice: learning english is a skill that needs to be polished from day to day. if you don't practice, everything you've learned is put to waste. practice each day and watch your progress. focus more on the skill where you're weak at but don't take the rest for granted. 7. enjoy: learning english is so much fun. try some word search, crossword puzzles or scrabbles and other online games. with that, you can't say that learning english is boring. try a variety. if you have a friend around who likes to study english as well, try having a deal of speaking english for a few minutes and the one who speaks your native language will get a sort of penalty like to treat the winner some cold drink or snacks. 8. if you can afford, try to enrol in english classes or better yet with a private tutor. i believe one-on-one classes are very helpful because you get a lot of time to practice speaking. 9. finally, patience is a virtue. so be patient and persevere to achieve your goal. in due time, you'll be amazed of how well you have improved. go for it and good luck!

I am not a native english speaker. I just acquired the knowledge from my years of studies and of course daily conversations. Learning the art of the english language requires determination and willingness to learn. One must have the focus, the interest and patience. Read more and speak more and more.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's so good of you to have a good partner to practice the oral English. Speaking English fluently is important as an English speaker. And I do believe that practice makes perfect. Wish you make great progress together with your husband. :)
