Homemade versus restaurant

I thought it would be interesting to see how many people prefer homemade pizza to those of the big chain pizza places like Pizza Hut or Dominoes. For me, it is all about homemade pizza, my husband makes an incredible herb crust that adds the perfect touch to the pizza. Also, we give our kids a wide array of options when it comes to toppings. You may laugh, but one of my kids found that they love pickles on pizza. Which do you prefer?

My daughter and I definitely prefer homemade pizza. It becomes a fun 'bonding' time for us as we stand in the kitchen and select our favorite toppings to put on each pizza. The chain pizzas are just awful - horrible bases, cheap processed toppings and way too expensive for what you're getting.

I prefer the pizza made in a restaurant. I just find it tastes different and better than when I prepare it at home. As for the toppings, there are dozens of different pizzas to choose from. I usually always get more mushrooms and more vegetables even if they are already included. Oh, and I love pickles. Might have them on a pizza, too, someday :D

That's cool, I'm sure you have your favorite restaurant for Pizza. Do you have a lot of different options for pizza where you live? Or do you have the traditional.

We like to set it up when the kids have sleep overs where everyone gets the chance to create their own. We will place all the toppings and sauce options in the middle of the table. It is funny to see what combinations that the kids might come up with.

Generally I prefer home made pizza as of course it allows you to choose exactly the toppings you prefer. Saying that, it´s nice to have a take out pizza occasionally just for the pleasure of not having to wash up! A guest of ours was telling us that a local restaurant serves banana on pizza. That´s one thing I have neither tried nor want to!

I don't know if you have a CeCe's Pizza in your area. They serve strange pizzas. One I couldn't get over is a Macaroni and Cheese pizza. Or there was even a tuna fish pizza. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. This pizza parlor is an all you can eat buffet style place.

Actually, my husband and I had pizza last night. We had Dominoes new pizza. It was good, but it had a lot of garlic on it. I would not order Dominoes on a weekly basis, but it is good to order maybe once a month or so. I have made homemade pizza in the past. I usually buy English Muffins and make mini pizzas. My husband does not like a lot of cheese and I love a lot of cheese. For New Years Eve my husband and I bought the Boboli pizza crust and we enjoyed that as well. Maybe one of these days I will take out my bread maker and try to make homemade crust.

We have used the english muffin method as well. It works when you have a lot of different tastes to deal with, especially in a party situation. I always thought that Dominoes sauce was to sweet. We usually order Pizza Hut if we are going to order Pizza.

When it comes to cooking I believe homemade is always the best way to go. You can do so much more and tweak it more then you could at a restaurant. And if you love to cook like I do then you love to see when people rave about your food and ask for seconds and thirds. I'm always trying to find new and different things to make. I get bored easily eating the same old thing so I'm always in my kitchen trying something new. As far as home made pizza you can but whatever you want on it and as much on it. You dont have to worry about the pizza chains being stingy on the toppings. lol

I have to agree with all the different preservatives that you find in a lot of things this day, it is always nice to have fresh homemade, especially when you can choose the fresh veggies for it and stuff. Plus then giving the option for other toppings, our kids like ranch dressing or barbecue sauce.

I love both but I prefer home made. I just think it tastes better home made.

Especially the dough. You can always tell if it is a mix or from scratch. I have found that when we have had "homemade" pizza with friends, they will use a mix or a ready made dough, it just doesn't taste the same.

I would go for a homemade one ;) because you can put whatever you want to.you'll get the exact taste taht you want. And lastly your very sure with the cleanliness :)

You are right about the cleanliness part. For many companies here in the U.S. they have to follow state and city rules or else they will be closed. If an inspection is done on a restaurant and it is found to have problems with being clean then the city or state will simply close the location and give the owner a warning stipulating that they can not reopen until all of the issues are addressed and then given a new date in which they are allowed to open again.

I prefer both cause it's a case to case basis... I love cooking in the first place and pizza is one of my specialty... Every week when it's my rest day I really make sure that I will cook something special and cooking pizza at home can really save you some money and you can also experiment with different flavors. But sometimes it's good to eat on the restaurants as well cause for me, it's nice to taste different ways to cook pizza so you'll have an idea on how to cook it.

I would definitely go for the homemade one; however, I admit that I usually just order pizza to be delivered. It's so much easier. Homemade pizza is something that is saved for the weekends when there is more time for cooking. Week nights are all about quick and easy dinners and leftovers from the night before if we have any.
