The meaning of the RING..

I believe that ring has different meaning in the eye of people. For me ring has symbolic meaning in particular situation. I'm a man and i think that engagement ring is very important for my beloved because it shows my commitment, love and relationship on her.
In my case, I have a friend who is engaged or married without a ring. I feel sympathy on her.In my thought, a man must give an engagement ring to his beloved because it shows the level of commitment, love and relationship between you and her.In fact, some people say,engagement without a ring can acceptable and it is not a serious matter.
How do you describe the meaning of the ring? Do you think engagement without a ring can be acceptable? Please share your thought ...

Engagement without a ring? That will never happen on me..As for my opinion, it is very important to have that for an engagement, a wedding. I agree with what you say, it is a way to show your wife that you love her, it is a proof of our engagement..to show that we belong together and we are wearing the same pair of ring. I rather cancel for my honey moon or a wedding dinner but not the ring.
