When Was The Last Time You Were Pampered?

I would class a visit to the hairdressers as "being pampered" as I don't go very often but I did have some Christmas money left so decided to have something done with my hair. I like having my hair washed by someone else and it was in a sink behind my head. The smells of the shampoo and conditioner wafting up were lovely too, so much better than the chemical-riddled stuff in Boots. LOL! Shelley has cut my hair before and I trust her loads to do a good job. In fact, I'm not very good at explaining what I want so she tells me, haha! Then she dried it and used the hair straighteners. Now, when I use my hair dryer it's just to dry the hair, not to style it or anything. I've only used my own hair straighteners twice, I am ashamed to say. I haven't got the patience and I do admire women who can change their look when they go on a night out. Don't get me wrong, I do look different when I go on a night out but my hair isn't like when it comes out of the hairdresser's! So, tell me fellow MyLotters, when was the last time you were pampered and what did it entail? It would be lovely to hear from you and I promise to respond to anyone who types more than 2 sentences at a time.

A few years ago I got a GREAT massage, I was so relaxed afterward. I would LOVE to have a membership to some place like Massage Envy - and I really think they would help me feel much better. I do need to get a hair cut, I've had my hair up since last year - I hate it down around my neck - its so HOT. But I didn't get it cut this last fall. I agree, I love to have someone else wash my hair and rub my scalp!

the only thing I like about doing it myself is that I can suds up and then let it sit while I wash the rest of me - that allows the soap (a medicated one) to kind of get in and treat my scalp.

The nearest thing to a massage I suppose would be one of those spa baths...how I'd love one of those. My cousin has one and seeing it I just wanted to lock the door, strip off and jump in it lol. It was so inviting. I know what you mean about having someone else wash your hair, it feels more of a chore when I do it. Don't know why!

Oh right, I see what you mean. You can take as long as you like when you wash your hair yourself. I did get cold once in a hairdressers but it was my own fault, I was in a rush and my hair wasn't dried properly. MISTAKE! Needless to say, I got a very nasty cold because of that and I have never done it since!

Hi Jane, The last time i fully pampered myself with the financial support fo my husband was last december. he made it possible for me to have a great time in the parlor for a hair pampering. Me and my husband have this weekly pampering session with ourselves. we have a regualr home therapy massage session. the massage therapist comes to our house and gives us massage on a weekly basis. our schedule is every friday night. so we always look forward for friday nights of an hour whole body massage!

Hi Janey I don't even remember the last time I even went to the hairdressers or any type of pampering for that matter. I have never in my 53 years been to a spa or had a professional massage or anything like that. Right now, my hair needs desperately to be cut but I just can't afford it. A good hair cut here in Ft Lauderdale is upwards of 75.00 and I just don't have it unless I skip eating for a few weeks. I am still recovering from a major organ transplant and living on disability, or should I say existing on disability. I can't wait to return to work so that I can go shopping, have my nails done on a regular basis and have my hair cut. The things I used to take for granted are now unattainable luxuries that I can only dream about or live vicariously through others! Just you speaking about the smells of the products makes me smell it too..Oh well,,tomorrow will be brighter.. Enjoy your new hair..

I'm so sorry about your circumstances. To be honest, I don't usually have much money but it was due to the kindness of my relatives at Christmas that enabled me to have my hair done. I don't receive any money off the government because my husband works full time. I am one of the "forgotten unemployed" and there are many in this country. I feel so bad about mentioning the lovely smells in the hairdressers now, how insensitive of me (sorry)

Janey..No need for apologies,,certainly not. I enjoyed your post and like I said, I live vicariously through others!!! It was not insensitive at all. The fact that I am having problems dosen't mean others shouldn't talk about the good things in their life..In fact, it cheers me up..Thanks

when i was still a child now grown up rarely pamper except by my boyfriend, like to cuddle most of the times, talking sweet nothing, eating and strolling on the park, playing games and joking with each other.

Hello Janey, Great subject. I also could nearly smell the shampoo and conditioner hehe. You're very good at describing something. Well the last time I was pampered was years ago. I went to a famous "institute" here in Montreal. You go in and they greet you with a glass of champagne. They supply the bathrobe and they treat you as if you were a princess. The bill is fit for a princess also!!!! I went there only to have my hair done. My hair was, and still is down to my waist. I had highlights done. That was about 15 yrs ago and it cost me $260. Quite expensive. Im not one to have someone give me a massage, I think I dont like being touched, its too close for comfort. Now I do my own hair, I color and cut them. Every time I go out shopping, theres always people asking if its all my hair, where I go to have it done and I never tell them that Im the one doing it. I think the only time Id want to be pampered is when I have a man's cold. Im such a cry baby when I have a cold. Id want someone to care for me then. As for changing my look. I own a few wigs of different color. My hair is red now and even if I wear a blonde wig, its like nobody notices. Like I look the same. Not sure why but I must have a face that looks the same no matter what. lol

Thank you so much for complimenting on how good I am at describing somethingPerhaps it's due to all the letters and diary-writing I've done over the years. I'd like to think so! You, my friend, also have the "gift of the gab" in written format, if that makes sense and I would love to be able to mess about with my own hair but I can't...just do the basics, that's it lol. Wow, I like the sound of that institute in Montreal, very nice indeed.

Haha, yes I do yap a lot but only when typing, believe it or not, when it comes to talking, im the quiet type. As for doing your hair yourself, Ive learned a few tricks on youtube.....I think someone mentionned that here. You might want to have a look. Its how I learned how to apply mineral makeup.

Hi Janey, it is really a interesting topic~ Since i graduated from the university, i have not cut my hair nearly 2 years. Wanted to see what my looks with long hair, i decided to try once time. I totally neglected the coming problems that more shampoo?more water?more loose hair in washing hair casued by long hair. The submissive hair go through webs after shampoo, and the whole touch feeling is so wonderfulhaha~ In china, we do not have to pay much for cutting hair or hair-dyeing, as far as i know, 300-400RMB for individual cutting hair except Beijing and Shanghai. I think it is so expensive in abroad. Korea is famous known as great mellow skills in hairdressing:) of course match its cost~

I think the last time I was pampered was when my mom took me to the hair salon for my birthday last year. I got my hair cut, washed and styled. It wasn't much, but it feels nice when someone else is washing your hair, massaging your scalp, etc.

That's exactly how I feel when someone does my hair for me. You can just forget about everything and relax, it's very nice!

Every weekend I go to the SPA for the much needed relaxation. I think that is the best way to reward myself after a whole week of heavy loads of work. I deserve that because after all I am working hard enough. Every once a week as well I have to get a footspa plus manicure and pedicure. Once a month I also have to go the skin clinic for my regular facial. Every six months I go to my hairdresser for trimming and hair spa as well. I think those are enough to pamper myself. We should all enjoy our earnings actually. Let us pamper ourselves and see how it will positively respond.

Well, when I get back to work (which, hopefully) shouldn't be too far off I think I might go for a spot of pampering! I've always wanted my nails done (not false ones) just to make them look healthier, if that's possible. I wonder if the fingers get massaged as well? I love that!

I don't get pampered any more. My pampering comes from me going for a massage and the last massage i had was back in October. My husband is unemployed and thinks that massage therapy is frivilous.

I wouldn't know my friend because I've never had a professional massage done in my life. I can live without them though and I'm sure you can. Perhaps your hubby could strike a deal and give you the massage himself?

Pampering for me would consist of manicure, pedicure, foot scrub, total body massage and facial. I don't do the last two very often, but the first three I try to have them every week because my nails and cuticles grow back very quickly and the hard skin on my soles also gather in a matter of days so I would go for foot scrub every week.

I've never had a manicure but often wondered what it would be like. My nails are a square shape like my Dad's so it would take a lot of work to make them look fabulous. They are clean though lol.
