skype for dummies

I am taking an online course and as part of it I need to become proficiant in Skype. I'm required to watch the instruction videos and will do so, but I was wondering if maybe one of you could find a way to simplify and explain this program.

if you really wanted to be proficient just explore it and use it everyday try experimenting on it and use every functions it has and everything that might interest you.that way you end up a professional in using it.
