I am in deep confusion right now because of my work. I know I wanted this job and I even prayed hard for it but now that my prayers have been answered I am having second thoughts. I am now an online transcriber for a group of people based in India. I applied for the position, took the test and thankfully I passed and I was so happy that finally I have regular online job now. Not like before where I never stop searching, applying, bidding and praying hard. It was exhausting looking for a regular job online. I do get contracts every now and then but after the contract has finished, again, I would find myself searching and there are long days without income. The job I have right now is good. Really good cause it can give me the experience that I much need and avoiding the exhaustion of always having to search for a new contract plus the income is going to be regular. This is really an opportunity for me. But what’s giving me the problem is the time. The job requires me to work from 11pm to 6am Philippine time and that is Mondays to Fridays. I have just started working Monday and later tonight till early morning of 6am will be my fifth day with them. I still lack sleep right now though I have already taken a nap to replenish my energy but still a good night sleep is what I do need. I am worried about my health if I will be doing this on a regular basis, making my day my night and vice-versa. I know this is too early to think about it but I don’t know… It’s really giving me confusion and I don’t know whether I will continue on it or resign the soonest time possible. Can anyone help me to decide? I wanna know everyone’s opinion if you are me and I maybe you could give me a good advice about this.

That's the nature of your job and a call from your client's requirements. Anyway you still have a whole day to rest. I have friends who are working just the same schedule with yours, and sometimes stay longer than the regular eight hours of work for additional income. They are doing well, maybe you are still at the verge of adjustments. As you said, you love your job, that's the most important thing, you are enjoying what you are doing. Sooner or later, you will find your schedule well. Or who knows, your schedule is only temporary while you are new to the job. Our health is important also, but it does not mean, we must only work based on our time schedule preference.

Hello eskayz i understand your position regarding your job...as what you had said, you need really this job ever before and now you had it..I had also an experienced on this kind of job. A graveyard job as we can say...in my own experienced i got sick for the first two months but patiently i started to adapt the lifestyle of my job but everything for me were abnormal.. i slept early in the morning and wake up late in the afternoon..i decided to quit because i felt something different with my health.. In your case, i would advice you to look for another one that would gives you normal ways of working..remember Health is wealth..yes you may never have financial problem but where your will your money goes? Would you like that all your hard earned money would just be for your medicines and doctors? Look for another job that would not compromise your health... Think about it...the big investment of our lives is our health... Thanks. Mobhomeir here...

Hi, iskayz. I understand that you are now in a dilemma. It's natural that we are usually anxious in searching ways to make money regardlesss of our health when we're unemployed. At such times, health seems to mean nothing because the most important thing in our mind is to feed ourselves. But after that, when we're employed, we begin to be aware that the job we've been dreaming of for so long a time is far from perfect. It needs to be done at the expense of other things such as health as is in your example. You have to work almost through all the night which is definitely very hard. I think you've already got an answer in your mind as we can do nothing without enough sleep. It's true that money is important, but not as important as health. Good health is the basis for doing other things. So I figure that you should think of changing another job that won't take up too much of your sleeping time. After all, you don't need to be too hard on yourself. Take care.

its better to prioritize your health. remember that you cannot work if your health is not good, so pay attention in improving your health before going back to work. there are many job opportunities around, and they come all the time, you may not know there is a better offer that will come someday. keep healthy!

Hello Iskayz, Im sure you're very confused right now. Most people you know work in the daytime and sleep at night. I worked all my life in the daytime and then I had an opportunity to work the graveyard shift (night) At the same time my husband also had an opportunity to work the same hours. So we both decided to give it a try. At first we couldnt fall asleep. We'd get to work tired and all we could think about was sleep. We kept it on and we kept that schedule during the weekends also. After 2 weeks, we both noticed we werent tired anymore. We could sleep even if there was light in the bedroom and we needed less sleep. Our bodies are a marvel of ingeneering, it can adapt to just about anything if the mind is set to it. So its up to you. Do you really want to do this job? If you do, set your mind to it and your body will follow and you will NOT get sick. I sure hope you believe in the power of your mind over body and give this job you wanted so much a chance. Good Luck.

I can relate to that situation cause I am a call cnter agent in one of the companies in makati.. We also work in graveyard shift.. And you've said that you're just new in this kind of job. At first of course its kinda awkward cause your night becomes your day and vice versa but if you'll get use to it you won't get any problem at all. Anyway you still have 2 more days to get your goodnight sleep. I am in this same situation for about a year now..

Give yourself a chance to adjust this is something you have worked hard for. Many people work what we call 3rd shift. My husband will be switching to third shift for a few months starting this Sunday,Do to the company dismissing another employee. So please don't mistake this as a un-compassionate response.Times are hard right now this is your chance to gain the experience you need.If it was not something you worked hard to achieve,it would not matter. If I remember you were having a hard time finding the right school, but you found one and made it. Look at it as money which you need to survive. Your body will start adjusting faster than you think.I can promise you that as it is not the first time my husband has done this. I hate the idea too... as it will disrupt our lives once again ,though advance my husband with his company. When opportunity is knocking at your door take it.At some point you can go back to days after you have gained your experience or possibly request, to the company that if a day positions are available ,in the future you would be interested.Who knows you may even like it. I know from all that you have been through to get this job ,That you are a very strong person and hard worker who can and will figure out what is best for you. Good Luck all good things take time you are over half way there.

although i have nothing against those who work regularly on a night basis, i would still prefer to work during daytime. we can never really tell whats happening inside us but im sure you know very well that having a good night sleep is very important to our health. while its good that you finally have your dream job, you must also consider your health coz you dont want to suffer in the end just for the love of your job. happy mylotting.

I think we have to prioritized first our health because how can we work and be productive enough in every endeavor that we are inclined to if we are not feeling well? That was also my problem before. While I was busy looking for an extra income online in order for me to buy a dream phone for myself, I was not anymore paying attention with my health. And you know, I still have an offline job in the BPO industry. After earning enough money from online jobs and because I already bought my dream phone, I now quitted searching and bidding for online jobs and just focused on my current offline job. Anyways, I already bought my gadget and now I am focusing on my health because this is my only capital and I have to protect it.

This is a bit difficult Choice-making.WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT-- JOB OR HEALTH? We all know that HEALTH IS WEALTH.MONEY ALWAYS STAYS WITH A PERSON WHO IS HEALTHIER.So,health plays an important role in everyones life.U cant work if ur ill.For example,MR.X got a Job Offer and he has to report on Monday without fail. But,suddenly on Sunday Mr.X got ill. So,can he go for that Job? Absolutely NO.He has lost Job opportunity due to illness. So my friends, HEALTH IS ALWAYS WEALTH.ONE CANNOT COMPARE IT WITH JOB OR EVEN GOLD.

Years ago i was hird by one of big four firms, but too much overtimes there let me to think this job twice. Pay was good but few personal time, that harmed my health as well. After three years with that firm, i quited. Now i get job with goverment division. Even though working hours are still fully busy but that is okay bacause off-work time belongs to me. That is my experience and my choice. For you, i suggest that if you truely worry about your health in this very begining ( you said you just commence your new job now), you should quit because once you worry it, it does happen. Nothing could comfort you since the working hour is quite adverse to your normal daylife. Generally job time will influence not only your health but also social work.
