How do you make up to someone you have hurt/upset?

It's really a burden for me when I upset someone especially if she/he is close to my heart. I usually find ways to make up to them when I do. Of course I tell my sincere apology and give something that he/she likes. Then, I talk to him, give some jokes, and make him laugh. I won't be able to sleep unless he/she tells me that I am forgiven.. How about you?

I give him or her a simple message, informing my sincere apology to her. and i won't do those stupid things that hurt him or her anymore. I'll give them a gift.
