I was reading on FB via' the post on HULU & there's quite a lil bashing going on. They are bashing someone who said he'd rather spend his money on needy Americans who have no jobs, no food, lost their houses... Others keep on bashing this person on his opinion that he is selfish. Sadly everyone has valid points, there's no right answer.
However, given his opinion do you think he is wrong?

I don't think that the man is wrong for stating that he would rather help needy Americans. At this point in time, there are needy people throughout the world and there are a lot of people that have found themselves in tough situations throughout the world and the people that are still in a somewhat comfortable situation have only a limited amount of money and resources that we are able to give. I would like to be able to donate to Haiti, but I don't have any ability to send financial support to anyone.

no,i don't think he's wrong.
i know a lot of people local who are neither donating to haitians or other americans-because they're too busy trying to keep a roof over their own families heads.sometimes you just can't.

I don't think he is wrong. obviously, it's not a very politically correct thing to say, but there are people in need all around us, all of whom could use help.

He has a valid point. Sadly, it doesn't weigh well in the court of public opinion. Most people feel bad, and don't know what to do. Our elementary school is having a Coin War. Pennies from each grade go into the jars. If someone puts a quarter into the jar it subtracts from the pennies in a jar from another grade, It's a fun way to get the kids to participate in helping Haiti. A fact is, most Americans, (myself included) don't often think about other Americans in need until the holidays. Not like it is broadcast nightly on tv..

you are right though.... there are Americans in need everyday but they are not profiled on the news to remind us to give at home too! Though I have seen some families profiled on the news that were living in their car & their stories were seen & were given proper assistance instead of ridicule
