Do You Have Lots Of Mirrors In The House?

Let's see, we have 3 mirrors. All were here before I met John so I've inherited them! Anyhow, there's one above the dado rail in the hallway which is oblong-shaped. The problem with this mirror is that I have to stand on my tiptoes to look in it as John is 6ft 1ins tall and I'm 5ft 4ins! In the back bedroom there is another portrait mirror above the dressing-table so I look in that (not very often) to check from the waist up lol. Then the 3rd mirror is in the front bedroom and is integrated into the wardrobe so is quite narrow, above some drawers with the wardrobe at the side. This mirror is rubbish due to the hideous energy-saving lightbulb that my mother-in-law insisted we had so I can't see much even when I look in it...which I suppose is just as well!
So, do you have lots of mirrors around the house? Where are they? Unusually, we have no mirrored cabinet in the bathroom but I'd really like one...eventually!

I have 12 mirrors in my house. 3 hand mirrors, 4 mirrors in my bathrooms( one huge on bathroom door), 2 big wall mirrors next to my closets, one free stand adjustable mirror, and 2 decorative small mirrors....
enough to get dizzy...

Oh, hand mirrors. I forgot all about hand mirrors. I have one of those as well. It's actually a double sided mirror. On one side there's a regular mirror, and on the other there are three little magnified ones. So, my grand total is 7 mirrors, unless I count them separately, then I guess it'd be 10! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I forgot about hand mirrors as well! It's a two-in-one thingy and one of the mirrors is supposed to magnify the face when you look into it. I don't look into that one very often lol.

Hi Janey1966, Wow, never thought I'd hear this question...ready???
We bought our home about 2 years ago...when you walk in the front door, my Blue Room...really it's a porch but all done up and enclosed with bay windows and all...
the wall of mirrors from floor to ceiling on either side of the next entrance
into the living room hits you like a ton of bricks...then...living room is free of mirrors but look to your left the stairwell to go upstairs...mirrors, mirrors, mirrors half way up the steps...bedrooms up stairs...two, each one has a wall of mirrors...floor to ceiling...even the closet doors are mirrored top to bottom and the door knobs are, you guessed it...mirrors!...bathroom, door is a mirror, again...top to bottom...let's go back down to the dining room...mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors, again floor to ceiling...I sometimes think that the guy who lived here must have really loved himself:-)
Oh yeah and these are not some cheap mirrors...they are super thick and up there for good, it seems! Garage, which is actually my daughters home...mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors...what is the Great Room is mirrored floor to ceiling on one great long wall, including door to bedroom and bath...bedroom...one full wall of mirrors floor to ceiling! It's not so bad...I love my home...and I don't think that these mirrors are going anywhere...at least not in my lifetime...lol.
the cleaning of the mirrors is not so bad either cuz it's only the three of us, all adults!! No kiddies!
Good discussion, thanks:-)

Hi again Janey1966, Thanks for your response:-)
I'm sorry you have a bit of low self esteem...come on, you're beautiful, if that is you on your profile pic and even if it isn't you are important and a vital part of this world you are here for a reason...believe that.
I also hate looking in the mirror but that's because I've always thought of myself as not attractive...the pic in my avatar are my beautiful daughters and beautiful they are...but I tend to put those non attractiveness feelings to the side and do what I must to take care of my family and also anyone that I can help I do...so that makes me feel so much better about myself.
Stay cool and stay strong...you are important cuz God don't make no junk!

Goodness me, it seems your home is full of "wall to wall mirrors!" It obviously doesn't bother you though but, as I hate looking at myself (low self esteem at the moment) then it would certainly bother me! I don't think anyone is going to beat your vast array of mirrors my friend and thanks for sharing, it's much appreciated.

We have seven mirrors in our house. I just had to count them in my mind.
We have three sliding wardrobe doors in our bedroom which are floor to ceiling and take up the whole length of the wall. We have another rectangular one in our lounge room which is fairly large and another small round one on our back deck outside.
My daughter has one in her room which is the perfect size for her to check out her whole body to see whether she looks cool enough! (Girls! ) We also have a large one above the basin in our bathroom. We have some smaller hand held mirrors that live in drawers, but I am not going to count them!

Not sure what you mean by "fitted", but I am guessing that you mean built in to the house. The wardrobes in every room are part of the house. Built in to it when it was made!

Well at least you have mirrors in practical places. Are the wardrobes in your bedroom the "fitted" variety because we have a large wall that is crying our for a fitted wardrobe on it lol. I love them, very nice indeed.

Yes, you keep looking in the mirror and keep reminding yourself how gorgeous you are...and the weight loss will make you even more gorgeous, I'm sure of that.

I saw a big furry giraffe in a toyshop window the other day. I reckon it was the size of a baby giraffe (which is probably what it was) lol. Adorable!

When I was a child, my dad's office was located above a toy store that had a 6 foot and an 8 foot giraffe by the main doors. The Toy Palace it was called and it was also where my first giraffe came from - my dad brought it back from Texas after his interview.

There's just the one mirror in my house and that's behind the sink in the bathroom. Not being the most vain person I've never really bothered with mirrors all over the house unlike my sister who the last time I went to see her I counted 4 just down stairs alone. I did use to have a mirrored cabinet but when the door came of I got rid of it completely as I never used the mirror, I think it came with the house, lol.

Hmmm...I do have a few mirrors in the house. I have a decorative one in the living room, of course the one in the bathroom. There is one that covers the closet door in my bedroom but that one was there when I bought the house. My girls both have one on top of their dressers in their bedrooms. That is a grand total of 5.

I love decorative mirrors and I like the fact that your girls have one each in their respective bedrooms. Gotta have some privacy us gals don't we? Thanks for posting!

I don't really have many mirrors in my current accomodation, but I know a friend who is really fond of them. It's actually quite creepy because no matter where you go, you are hounded by your reflection

Oh dear. I wouldn't like that at all! I think a couple of classy mirrors would do it for me, nothing too flash.

We too have three mirrors in our appartment. All of them irronically in the bathroom. There is one above the sink, one to the right which has the cabnet attached to it, and a full length one behind the door.
We used to have a fourth behind the bedroom door, but we had to have the door replaced, so therefore, the mirror went with it. Didn't need it though if you ask me.

It makes sense to have mirrors in the bathroom. Ours is quite large with a high ceiling, so if we did manage to buy a mirrored cabinet, we could get quite a large one and get away with it.

Lots? I don't think we need so many mirrors in the house. Our place is quite small so there is no need to cramp it with more stuff as it is already cramped as it is. We only have one big mirror and another small one which I use when I put on make-up and that's it.

We have a large mirror in the master bathroom, and another mirror in the same bathroom that stands length wise, both mirrors give full view so I'm not sure why we have both lol. But, we are renting the house before we decide to buy it sooo the mirrors were there. There is also a huge mirror that came with the headstand, which my three year old loves to look at himself in and get handprints all over. That's just in our room, so that is three...rather large mirrors. Then, when you walk out there is another mirror in the hallway. Kind of a decorative thing, I'd actually like a larger mirror with the same kind of decorative thick wooden surrounding for the area near the living room which could be used as a formal dining. Mirrors really actually are supposed to give the appearance of more room in your home if you put them, lets say in the living room etc., or a hall way.
Oh, the only other mirror is in my sons bathroom ( it's not on the cabinet, it's on the wall, the cabinet is beside the sink instead of infront), haven't put one in his room yet.
I have the same issue though, if we were to go off of our heights, our mirrors would be a mess lol.

oh let me see...we have one integrated into wardrobe as well and then we have one in the bathroom + one hand mirror, so that's about it. 3 to count them together, unless I also count all the stored as well...that would make a bigger number lol

Let's see now... There's a mirror in the bath, one in the spare room, one in my bedroom, one in the upstairs hall at the top of the stairs, one in the downstairs hall at the bottom of the stairs, one on a wardrobe at the other end of the hall, one above the kitchen sink, and one in the living room. Then there's a few hand mirrors about. It's not that I like looking at myself, I just like to have a lot of reflected light about. The hand mirrors are to check to see if I have something in my eye or if it's an alergic reaction that's bothering them.

Wow! That's a lot of mirrors but I can tell you are "into" them for the right reasons...using them to reflect the light, that's very good, I like that. That's also a good reason for taking your hand mirrors out with you. The times I have had something in my eye when I've been out! If I'd had a mirror on me I'd be able to see what the culprit was. Well done my friend for using your brain!

Hi, Janey1966. In my apartment, we only have two mirrors. We have an mirrored cabinet that we can put our medicine in. We don't have any mirrors from our dressers, because we don't have any dressers in our home. I hope that you can get an mirror to go into your bathroom. Every home should have one of these. And, I know that you need one.

Well I like the mirrored bathroom cabinets that are available now...some have lights in them as well. Most are the same width as the sink. So, if I got a 600mm sinkI'd be able to buy a matching cabinet. Can't wait until I find a job...so much to buy, so little time to buy it all in hehe lol!

I only have two mirrors in the house where i am staying right now. One downstairs, and the other one is in my room. I don't really like to have many mirrors at home. It gives me creeps. I just think it's creepy...lol

I am the person with less mirrors at home that I know. I have only two mirrors, and one is on the bathroom.
However, I also carry with me 2 hand mirrors in my purse, as you never know when you're going to need them

Haha! I don't even take a mirror out with me. Once the make-up is slapped on (and even that's not used every day) that's it, I don't touch it up throughout the day so I don't need to take my little 2-way mirror out with me. Thanks for posting!

I wouldn't say that my friend. Mirrors can be used to make rooms look bigger. It's amazing the different styles and sizes that are available now.
