I was chatting w/ my MIL and she was mentioning the piggy bank her cat has. Yes the cat has his own piggy bank. We (hubby & I) got her one we found at a dollar store for the cat as a gag. If you know MIL she was delighted to fill it w/ coins for her cat. Well she said the one we got Harvey had broken so when she was able she painted him a new one in ceramics class @ the senior center. I honestly totally forgot about it....
I know I love my cats but they don't have piggy banks! do yours?

Wow, my husband and I have kidded about starting a bank account for the dogs and cats. I think it's cute that she hand-painted the piggy bank.

It was cute she did another one for him. But what insane is I swear she treats that cat better than her kids sometimes.

That sounds like something my mom would have done. I wonder what she's saving up for?
My mom used to sign cards from her and the cats... she would even address cards to pets. Also the best gift you could give her would be something for the cats, because anything you gave to her she'd end up giving away to someone else... or in some cases she'd give it back to you a few years later. I got her a stuffed cat when she was in the hospital. A couple years later she gave it to my twins.

Well is the cat going to carry the coins in a little pouch and go shopping? That is pretty funny. I am amazed sometimes at what people get for their pets. While it's good to love your pets and keep them happy, a lot of things people buy for their pets are usually just for the owner. So your MIL likes it, then I guess let her enjoy it :) It's not really for her cat, it's for her :)

Both of my children have piggy banks, but neither of our dogs do. I don't honestly see the point in their being a bank for the dogs unless they were to actually do their own holiday shopping. It is a family tradition that the animals "go shopping" for Christmas and buy everyone either socks or underwear and I guess that would be the only thing that the animals would have that they could spend their money on. LOL.

They don't have an actual piggy bank, but I do save money for my cats in case they someday need surgery or expensive medicine. So it depends how you want to define the wor'd 'piggy bank'. I don't put it in an actual ceramic piggy or something like that but they do have their own savings .

None of my pets have piggy banks. Granted I think the idea is kind of useful. If you have any extra change you just add it to their piggy banks and could later use the coins for food, toys and other pet expenses. However, I have my own piggy bank that I toss a lot of other change into and I figure that when I have a lot of it I can split it between pets and get them what they need. I figure that's good enough.

When I had a cat, no he didn't have a piggy bank. Kind of funny and cute though. I wonder what she will spend the money on? Catnip maybe! lol My daughter has a bank. And I still need to get one for my son..he is a year old..gotto get on that.

I have trouble enough keeping my own piggy bank full! No, my dogs don't have one and wouldn't know what do to with it if they did. I think your MIL needs more activities to keep her busy! We tend to think of our pets as children sometimes (I think of them as friends) but a piggy bank is rather strange. It's kinda sweet, though. She can use it for a new toy or to buy a special treat.

One customer that came in to the supermarket where I work over Christmas wanted to pay for some dog treats and dog stuff separate to their shopping as it was the dog's money that he was using to pay for the treats.
This made myself and the cashier laugh, and we joked that the dog properly got pocket money for good behaviour. lol
Im not sure if the customer saved some money every week to pay for the dog treats as a Christmas present, we did think it was strange though.
I wouldn't use a piggy bank for any pet.

My cats aren't that spoiled. That's cute though. I wonder what the point would be. Where would the money that's being stored in it go? Cat's can't spend money, though my cat Precious will try to eat paper bills. Lucky for us and the rest of the world, the paper our money is printed on is hard for him to chew on. But its funny to watch him try.
