ok,first of all i want to say hello to all lotters,as i have too long to write!!i hope you are all ok and lotting a lot... well the time for jimmy(my kitty) has come and yesterday srerilization took plac e!! i want to ask all of you who have sterilized your pet, what was the behavior of your kitty?? Jimmy was sleeping and could not sit very well. Today where ever i go he comes behind of me and when i get away he starts mowing, but in different way as usual, with a "thin voice". Is this normal?Jimyy was a male cat with a lot of energy.Has he lost it????Will he be the same,or he is a "new cat"???

Hi, first of all I have three cats, one male, two females, all have been altered. I,ve never heard of this before. How old was he when you had him altered ? This may have a bearing on things. My male was fixed at 6 months. I would imagine the older the cat the more tramatic the surgery, none the less I,d take him to the vets to have him checked out. He may just be sore and needs some comforting. Let me know how things go . Good luck !

Hi, again, I understand you had to wait to get him fixed, sometimes we just have to wait until things are right. Keep an eye on him if he doesn,t improve take him back to the vets. As long as he,s not in pain, and eating and drinking he,s probably ok. The older and bigger the animal the sorer it will be. Are you ok now, you said you had some health problems? Don, t forget to look after yourself! Take care and keep me posted. Send me his picture if you like.

Jimmy is almost one and a half year old!!!I know i should had get him earlier but there were some personal health problems,so...Anyway i believe that has been really scared when he was at the doctor. When i went to take him from the vet he did not let the doctor to catch him and a dog that was under his cage was continusly barking and when i went he was very angry!!I put him on the car and when we were inside building starting peeing....and in the elevator....i believe that when he felt secure he let himself...also he is a big cat and so balls too.....so it's a loss...i believe... and he can no feel comfortable

A couple of my cats were really grouchy (hissing and growling) afterward. But most of them seemed to get by just fine without any changes that I noticed.

he's probably still buzzed. my vet told me the anesthesia they use for neutering is slightly hallucinagenic, and can take a little while to fully wear off. i'd just keep him quiet and in a day or so he should be his old self.

They usually are kind of lethargic for a few days after surgery. My boys found a place to hide and they slept a LOT. This will pass. They also will lay a wonderful guilt trip on you! Look at what you did to me!!! My boys did that to me. After a couple of days that too passed. Also they didn't sit well either...well you consider where the surgery was, you wouldn't sit well either. LOL! It shows that you love your cat, and are kind of worried and guilty about having him go through "that" surgery. But things will get back to normal within a few days, after he forgets about the trip to the vet.

I'm getting my kity altered in a few weeks. I am alittle nervous about his surgery since he is a real sweetheart, but I think he will be fine. He is super frisky now and I hope he will not lose any of his "catitdude."

I’ve had cats ‘done’ before as well as my dog and for the first few days they are a bit sorry and sore but they do bounce back to their old selves in due course. The males do become less aggressive which is not a bad thing; they don’t change too much so I would not worry, I predict Jimmy will be just fine, he more than likely needs a little more time but if you’re concerned I would take him back to the vet.

I have female cat and yes, I have noticed some differences, but not many. She is slower and is not jumping like she used to, maybe she gained one pound or two, but she is as sweet as usual...

If he's the same cat you took to the vet - then he will return to normal after the meds are out of his system. I've had cats come out of the meds in no time flat and others that seemed to take almost a week before they returned to normal. So, I hope your Jimmy will soon be back to his old crazy self!

I didn't notice much difference after having my cat Fritz neutered, except he was a bit less dominant with the 2 female cats. But if I recall correctly, he was a bit lethargic the first couple days. They bounce back pretty quickly, but healing time is needed.

Hi zouna5, I had my male cat done a few years ago and he is just fine, he is friendlier and follows me whereever I go, but he is just as frisky as ever, although he cannot do things that he would noramally do with a female cat, he is just so sweet, your kittty will be fine, I expect he is a bit sore at the moment. i believe so!!but until then,i would wonder maybe is better not to interfere to animal's health and life ,but thEN it is not logical to have them as pets!!!they should live to nature .Oh i am really confused! I WANT TO BELIEVE I DID THE BEST FOR HIM AND HAVE NOT HUT HIM!

Hey zouna! Don't worry about Jimmy! He will be just fine! He will the same sweet kitty that he was before his operation! It will take a little while until he starts feeling better! He is in a little pain right now and is week and upset! But, you will see that in a few more days he will get stronger and will be back to the same kitty that he was before! I have had four male cats that have be sterilized and they all were fine and back to being the same kittys in a few days! Don't worry!

Every cat reacts differently to the prosedure. After all just like you and me, cats get put under to have the sugery performed. Itcan sometimes take a few days for them to get over the effects. He may eventually come around, and if he doesn't after a couple of weeks take him back to the vet and him checked out. Depending on how the sugury was done, he may need his sutchers removed about then so it won't be a wasted trip.
