Its quite natural that, some people have the same way of thoughts and ideas. That may come to make two same posts started by two different people, here.
Of course those two cannot achieve more number of responses, for that good topic, as we are, here ,not supposed to post the same post more than once. What do you feel if you see someone has started the same discussion as yours in the same interest category?
I don't know whether this topic had already come here. Am sorry if so.....

I usually don't get angry at such people. Everyone can make a mistake - some people just don't do enough research before posting a new discussion. I usually check the older discussions to make sure that topic I want to post on hadn't been discussed earlier before.
And if someone is doing such things on purpose..well...I still was first to post such discussion, so he/she won't get as much responses as me anyway.

We can't call it as a mistake friend. Because, that may occure by a coinsedence.

Yes I agree with you, we cannot angry at such people. Because here there is no rule that says that we should have the post or responses differently to others. What is plagiarism and to copy paste is prohibited. Because the same idea but different delivery was justified.

Hi, Abha.
Honestly, I really don't care if someone create an discussion similar or with the same title like my discussions... Usually those which are posting discussions which were discuss before are new members and they didn't use the search bar on the top of the page. And even if they used this search bar and they found the same discussion, if the discussion was the old one then maybe they prefered to post a new discussion to receive current information.

Yeah you are Right friend,
but what if both the topics come near. May be by a coinsedence or the second one copied the topic. Then what would you feel?

Well at many times I see that there are discussion that are very similar to the the discussions that I have started. Earlier I used to feel annoyed at those things but now a days I take that for granted. As there are so many people are on this site and all are into starting discussions so I try to respond to those discussions as much as possible. I do that because I have a lot of ideas on the topic of discussion. Well sometimes it is very fun to respond in similar type of discussions.

Hi abhay,
I feel bit bad if the discussion is recent one. I am starting topic which is related to me or my surroundings. The topics come to my mind on my observation and thinking. So usually I won’t search the topic before starting the same. Last time one of my topics got deleted and it was related to mylot. Now I decided to search topic before starting a new, if it related to mylot. Once I really surprised to know abut one of my recent topic which was started by one of my close friend before one year and the topic was very similar but I never felt bad on the same but surprised to know the similarities in our thoughts (I started that topic from my own observation and came to know about the other topic when my friend provided the link, she also surprised by the similarities in thinking).

Hello abhaijith, well i have been into a fight on this when i was a bit new here. :p
well i started two topics in line and saw another new one with similar topic and exact similar discussion.I felt like the person was into copying my stuff.I had to ask him seriously, which made me more out of my mind because he was lying to me and claimed that not he but i stole the content and the discussion. But later it was resolved and he said sorry to me.I would not mind much if the topic is somewhat same but its such a copy mess when someone gets the content exactly what you got.

I don't really recall anyone coming up with a topic like mine, but if they did, it would either be a coincidence, as they either didn't know it was already discussed, or they did it on purpose. I do believe that has happened to others in here, where there discussion was copied word for word. That isn't right, as the person thaqt originally started it put time and thought into it, and I do believe the ones that copy, just can't seem to think of one of their own, so they will pick one that looks good to them, and copy and paste. That sure is rude to me as they don't want to take the time to do one of their own, so they will copy other users. I don't start all that many discussions as I do find it hard to come up with a good one at times, so it is much easier for me to just respond to other discussions. ?good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Yes, coincidence could be a cause for having similar discussions. There is nothing to worry when you have a discussion which is copied by another user, just report it and it will be deleted. It reminds me of a discussion that was posted by a user on his 500th post and he is celebrating as he reached that number and after been stacked by a few pages, a new user, which has few posts copied that discussion, the exact one. Both of the discussions are deleted because of milestone violation of the original poster and plagiarism on the other one. That seems to be funny as the user copied a discussion that violates the rules. Anyway, it is suggested to use the search box on top before posting a discussion so duplicate topics can be avoided.

Well, if these similar discussions are posted after quite a certain time, I may repost my response to it again. You see, people starts a topic, and he/she needs others' replies. :)
But, if we meet too many similar discussions, we may get bored. So... Anyway, we have the right to choose not to give an answer.

You are right. If we see the same topics at a time we will get bored,
but you know, we are not supposed to post the same answer twice here. And that will decrease your number of posts. Have you ever noticed it?

I wouldn't be very happy if someone started one exactly the same as one of m mine. I have started very few and therefore I think it is very unlikely that it will happen.
I only did one about pizzas and I have nver done any about ice-cream so I doubt I have done one similar to anyone else's either but that does not mean it moght not happen... though I do try to be different
Did you see one that is similar to one of yours?

Hi Diana,
yeah, i know you have started very few discussions but all of them are very good topics. Yeah, you always be different here.
Of course Diana,
i have seen some of my old topics has repeated here and but i know those are not intentionally doing.

Yep, I've seen this topic before. lol
If the two discussions were independent of one another, I really don't worry about it. If somebody actually copied my discussion, I report it. Once I did have a friend apologize to me for posting a similar discussion right after I posted mine. that was very nice of her, but really unnecessary.

I don't really care if someone else creates a topic that I did some time ago or so but its certainly odd to see the same topic pop up almost every week..
I'm not talking about MyLot but another forum I participate at. And it really seems like the same topics would come up every week or every second week.
I do tend to replay to those topics anyway but I also point out that that topic has already been done countless times.. even if that doesn't seem to help at all.. :)

Yeah, friend in some other forums there is no restriction on posting the same posts and that tend people to start same topics again and again.

hello abhajith,
This happens to me once,i was a newbie on this site and i posted a topic, then,i saw some related almost of same thought.
I felt a bit ashamed and,i think of deleting it,but, there's no way to do so.
But,i think,it cannot be avoided esp with newbie ones.
I often encountered with newbies starting old topics being posted.
Now,i always tried to think of new ones(topic),but still,i am thinking, only the way it was written or,some words were not of the same, but, still, same topic were being posted before.
Have a good day always and happy weekend

Hi Jaiho,
Yeah you are right.
Starting the same topici is not a matter. Share your thoughts and don't check whether its already had been discussed.

I think if I was the first person to discuss the subject that I would both be hurt and flattered that someone had thought of the same kind of discussion that I had thought of. However, I would also hope that if admin was to delete one of them that it would be the one that was started later as opposed to the one that was started earlier. I would not at any point think that them starting the same discussion as I had started was done as an attempt at plagerizing.

Hi! well, if I want to post a discussion, that I think it is a good one, and on which I have speculated a lot, than I will feel very upset, because someone else has already post it and I have thought of it so much time! Maybe I will figure out another one, but I will not be so happy with the second one as with the first!
By the way I am so glad now with my last discussion, because there are almost 100 people commented on it.

Just a while ago, I began a new topic. After a few minutes, I saw that the topic was already discussed. I felt embarassed. And I would like to apologize to whom it may concern. That's one thing that keeps me from starting a new topic sometimes because we are not fully aware if the topic we are about to discuss had been discussed already.

Friend,
you are right. And i think, that is not a matter here if we start the same topic unless the wordings are different. There is no chance for such a coinsedence. Any way you keep on posting friend. Good luck. Good Day.

hi..its not a problem to me...jsut ill smile a moment..that is it..nothing to take care about this ...anyone can think the same..else they can get a idea from our discussion..else they may dont have a new idea to create a new discussion...they may feel lazy for a moment ...all time all cant be so active..in their inactive times they may copy the others discusions..or creating a worst discussion..these are natural...i wont feel for this...have a nice time....

Well abhajith this happens most of the time to all of us...Very often we rack our brains for a topic and immediately start a new discussion, without bothering to check if some one has started a similar diacussion before...Starting similar discussions unwittingly is no deal and can be avided by cross checking old discussions thought most of us are too lazy to do just that....

Hello there! Well that was fine even when somebody posted a discussion similar to the one that I posted. It is an advantage when you are the first one to start the topic as duplicate discussions might be deleted. It is true that some people have the same idea. Posting topics that already posted by others can't be avoided sometimes. Using the search box could help reduce those duplicate topics, if the topic that you want to post already exists, try to view it on another angle so it will be a bit different. I avoid posting controversial topics as several users doing. You will notice a line of discussions posted by different users but with the same issue. That is what I call a 'race' because the first one who posted it will have the discussion stay on the list while the others will be deleted. They take the risk as it may get more responses when they post it earlier than the other. Having a discussion posted by others which is similar to my post was fine as long as it is unintentional. But in case of plagiarism, it must be reported. Have a nice day!
