Whenever I pass by a fruit stand, the light yellow fruit wrapped with a styrofoam and plastic makes my head turn one more time. DURIAN! The very delicious fruit that many people miss because of it's pungent smell. it's the fruit that will make your fridge of dining room stinky but its taste is incomparable.
Ahhh... durian. have you ever eaten one? would you dare try? please fell free to share your durian experience fresh or in candy form.
happy mylotting and durian eating!

It's cool to know that there are people who like durian very much. I am not against the taste of it because it's not bad. What i don't like is it's smell. Too strong a smell that the fruit feels like it was cursed. For some, the smell doesn't have anything to do with the taste. Just because the smell is pungent, doesn't mean the taste is horrible. I agree..Sorry for durian lovers but it's not really on top of my list.

wow. i have never heard of this fruit. but if its so good i would probably eat it. when i was a child my dad used to take me to a bar in this small town. kids were allowed then. and i would always ask for a stinky fish they were dried herring in packages behind the bar. they were really salty and good, but no one else in my playmates would touch them. they stank. but i loved them.

I have never even heard of it. What is it? Is it
like a Mango? Bannana? Orange?

i see. it's not like mango, banana or orange.
it is called "the king of fruit" in southeast asia. it grows from trees and it's husk oval or round in shape. it's green or brown in colour. its texture is similar to a jackfruit but with formidable thorn-covered husk. it has light yellow flesh. others have darker color depending on the species. some people regard its smell fragrant, others say its smell is offensive. its flesh is so soft and fairly sweet.

Dude,
The durian fruit is one of its kind and is famous in south east and south Asia.. I got to taste this fruit when my cousin brought some with him when he was returning from Sri Lanka! We had to wash and dryclean the bag thrice to get rid of the smell, but the fruit tasted really good.. sweet inside stink outside... That is how a Durian fruit!

Here in my country Durian is abundant. Though I never tasted the fresh fruit but I have eaten so many Durian candies.:-) Yup, the taste is good and mind you, I'm even beginning to like its smell.:-)
Durian will never be Durain without that distinctive pungent smell. I take it as not really pungent. The smell is just too strong for the nose that we tend to dislike it.
However, the taste is awesome.:-)

Hi cheiyen, i've heard about this fruit, but never got to taste it. I heard that the smell is overwhelming for firt timers, is it true? What does it taste like, sweet or sour? Do we eat just like that or have to cook it for sometime?

hi, zkapfo123!
it's true that durian's smell will kinda discourage you to try its flesh. but believe me, it's like an irony because durian is deliciously sweet. it's not like other fruit that you need to wait to ripen enough. once durian is sold, it's ready to eat. i haven't heard of any food where durian is cooked. maybe durian shortened bread... but i have eaten durian candies, durian ice cream and durian chips.
good luck and enjoy mylotting!

When I first taste durian, I didn't like the taste , maybe because of its smell. My uncle and aunt always have a durian every meal which i didn't like to eat. But then when I taste again the fruit, the taste is different and it is so good. After that i like durian's taste until now. it is very nutritious too.. .

I have tasted durian many times and it is indeed yummy. I first didn't like it because of its smell. I used to vomit before every time I smelled it. But one day, I just found myself eating this fruit for no reason. I was even surprised when i tried it and the taste was really great because it came from the freezer. It was like a durian-flavored ice cream. And after that first experience of eating fresh frozen durian, I have come to like it and I eat it every time i want to eat it.

i've never kept durian in the freezer because they won't last for more than 3 days with me.
thanks for giving durian a second chance. would you mind if i'd say this? "DURIAN's yummier the second time around." LOL
thanks and happy mylotting!
