Newspapers have become an essential tool to convey important info and news in today's society. As we all know knowledge is power, it is really crucial that we have a good grasp of vital information so as to remain competitive. Through reading newspapers it really helps us to attain such knowledge in a most convenient and inexpensive manner. Of course on the lighter note, newspapers also give us news on entertainment circle eg the latest celebrity gossips, the most recent fashion trend, the movie reviews and critics etc... So reading a copy of papers when having a cuppa may have become a need for many of us =)

i agree that keeping up to date is a positive thing. i read online versions of newspapers nearly everyday and the free ones (fjaril mentions the metro, we get this here too) a few times a week. i only actually buy a newspaper maybe once or twice a week, but find it in some ways better than the online versions because i read stories i might otherwise skip or skim.

I read the newspapers everyday. There is a joke in our part of the country, that the every South Indian will need a Morning news paper called "The Hindu", the filter coffee and of course the Ponds talcum powder to put it on his face.
We do not get any free paper, and we pay about Rs.100 a month for the English Language paper and Rs90 for our local Tamil language newspaper.

My husband reads the paper everyday. He loves to keep up with what is going on in the world on a daily basis. His favorite is politics and the comics. I myself don't seem to find the time to read. I know I should, but I am not a reader like he is. I just let him keep me informed! Lol!

I tend to read the news online or watch the 10 o'clock news and then just buy a newspaper on a Sunday. I think it is important to know what is going on but I don't feel the need to spend money on buying a newspaper every day. If I'm in London then I'll always pick up a copy of the free paper.
