You were in the situation to break a relation, just because someone did not understand very well what did you mean?Is very hard, in special to internet to understand very good each other for different reasons; 1. Cant see each other, so body language, who can help a lot don t exist here; 2.Not for all the mother tongue is English, so there are many expressions that you do not understand
Or maybe misunderstanding happens only when people acts at once before even thinking? Even if you are not in the internet, you can easily misunderstand a person.
Without knowing the actual situation we just cant blame some one .we need to be very patient, and try understand very good what other person want to say.

Hey buddy your question is very true and very generic. In most of the cases no one cares about it. and it happens only when u or ur opponent wants to drop either else sorry will work i guess.
gals r bit possesive in this case and most of the time gals will misunderstand so you have to talk to her with coll mind and tell her the truth . i hope she will forgive you, if she was really loving you then

In life sometimes just for few words, something can be broken so easy, just because of misunderstanding, for a mistake, no inttention, or just because is hard to know what somebody want to say.
Is just one solution here, to be careful, and patient, to try to understand what other want to say, not to blame very fast.
