The six degrees of separation is the idea that if you are on step away from someone you know and two steps away from a person they know, then you are 6 steps away from everyone on earth. This idea was thought up by John Guare. So do you believe this is true or is it a load of rubbish ?

I suppose it is possible if you or your friends know the right people or a lot of them..
If your friends and you say live in a remote village and don't get out much then I doubt that this idea will work for everyone..
I am personally only 2 steps away from a famous actor (I am Good friends with his sister) and therefore only 3 steps from anyone he has ever met or worked with and so on.. which can get my net pretty far out there. :-)

I am not sure what I really think about this. I have a pretty big circle of acquaintances presenty. this reaches many nations of the world. I have conversations weekly with people from many other countries. So although I haven't thought about it too much, it is a little probable!

I believe that the idea is realistic, especially in these modern times of internet communication. Before computers it might have some faults but with the global communication we have now I believe that it's possible that we are all 6 degrees away from knowing most of the people on earth, whether it's a real physical knowledge or virtual acquaintance.
