A friend of mine told me that Paranormal is really a true story based on a couple as shown in the movie. But I was really doubting that and I don't believe in this stuff.
What do you think. Is my friend told the truth to me.

No it isn't based on a true story, although many would like you to believe it is because it helps with the marketing of the movie. But a series of strange unexplained events lead to Oren Peli, I think that his name, writing a story about paranormal activity which he then made into the movie.
Over time there have been some movies which delve into the paranormal which are based on true stories, one of the most famous and shocking is "The Entity" which you may want to check out if you want some true paranormal activity.

hi shanrox!
I've seen it and got bored with the story. lolz.. I'm sorry if you happen to like it, it's just that it doesn't reach my expectations. I'm critical about horror films and I knew from the start that the film wasn't true or not even based on true story. I've seen the guy actor before somewhere and the concept of the movie where most of the odd scene was captured on film (home) made me think of it as scripted..I don't buy it.
The funny thing is, my officemate insisted that it was real and it did happened in 2006. I find it really "damn crazy" so, I searched it online and found out that it was just a movie script that never happened in real life. The place (house) was own by the director or producer, they have experienced some weird noises around the house which gave him an idea about creating the film. With that, your intuition are right, it isn't true at all.
Happy Lotting!

I agree with you...boring! It started off slow and the ending was horrible in the theater although I did see the alternated ending which was better (didn't leave you wondering if she was still out there on the loose or not). I did ponder that same question whether or not if it was based on a true story.

hi Orbitor!
Oh yes, I heard about it too (different "ending" versions of the film). It's a bit weird though..hihi! The film's phasing was so slow and it made me sleep between takes. I wished that the director didn't released any statements saying it "wasn't real" at all because it feels like audience had been deceived (in a way)

I don't think it's a real story too.. it seems pretty staged.. like scripted. And I read somewhere that the house they filmed was the Director's house or something or the Producer.. I might be wrong though. It's a low budget movie but the returns seemed pretty high since a lot of people were curious about what the movie is all about..

Some of my friend says that it is based on a true story and it's really scary so I decided to watch it.. but after watching it.. I was disappointed since it didn't scares me at all.. for me it was boring.. sorry for those who find it scary and interesting.. I also do some research about the movie to find out whether it's based on a true story or not and I found out that it's not based on a true story.. I even talk to my friends and told them that paranormal activity is not based on a story.. but most of them doesn't believe on me.. but at least I have my bestfriend who believes on what I told them..

No. It wasn't based on a true story. It was a movie shot by some independent filmmakers for $15,000, and it was completely made-up from the get go.
